Today we’d like to introduce you to ZaNaria Bowens.
Hi ZaNaria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My career started at Prairie View A&M University, studying Mass Communications and placing myself in organizations that could prepare
me for the future. I joined PVAMU’s television station, PVAMUTV, reporting campus news and events locally, regionally, and globally. While working with PVAMUTV, I interned with The Office for Marketing and Communications at PV, organizing events for the student body.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to intern with PVAMU’s radio station KPVU 91.3, bringing in the morning news, traffic, and weather updates.
Later, my good friend, Larry Allen, came to me in November 2020 to begin building IndustreetsTv, a media network based in Houston and
Dallas, Texas. Since then, I have advanced as a journalist conducting interviews and learning the ins and outs of public relations, marketing, and branding through digital platforms. IndustreetsTv now holds 1.375K subscribers on Youtube and an established Instagram profile with real followers engaging with content and recurring clients.
While building my network and relationships through IndustreetsTV, I started to market myself as a wardrobe stylist. I quickly gained
opportunities to style clients at Zayangelitastyles. Through Zayangelitastyles, I was responsible for pulling clothing, setting up photoshoots, and theme video shoots that would later be used for album covers, events, marketing, and brand.
I was juggling several tasks at once. I also wrote for The Garnette Report as a fashion reporter. I continued to build professionally as a journalist, interviewing, writing, and producing syndicated articles that people would enjoy reading.
I later graduated from Prairie View A&M University with my Bachelor’s degree in Communications. I accepted a job offer at Hood County News for eight months implementing social media and digital aspects, writing and reporting news, and growing the paper from 10K to 74K
views.
Fast forward to August 2022, I currently serve in journalism and radio, offering public relations and media services and styling clients as needed.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been fun and full of learning experiences. I quickly learned that there would be times when you will work for free and have zero dollars to your name!
Overall, I learned the most important thing is always to gain experience, show people you are willing, and be sure to offer valuable information and execute.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Tv/radio journalist specializing in hosting, public relations, marketing, and branding.
I also have my own business, a wardrobe styling company, Zayangelitastyles.
What sets me apart is being able to listen to small and large clients and offer solutions to their problems.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see myself hosting my own tv show and hosting red carpet interviews at places like the Bet Awards, Oscars, and MetGala.
Additionally, I want to help young individuals like myself to use their voices and be creative, innovative, and inspiring!
