Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
If you’d told me ten years ago I’d have a thriving Luxury Cake business in the Atlanta-Metro Area, I wouldn’t believe it. When I can to Atlanta ten years ago, I lived and worked in the entertainment industry. TV & Film, radio, celebrity interviews, etc. it was great, but I never felt complete… I loved it, but something was missing. Fast forward a bit, I started a family. With my family cake, less time for the set life, and more time home. I had to find what would allow me to be home with my growing family and yet still provide stability and financial help for us, and thus Came “Caked By Petite.” I literally left the industry that I’d known forever and embarked on a new journey in something I knew nothing about. No culinary degree never went to pastry school, and literally starting from scratch. It was hard, yes, but I didn’t give up. I perfected my craft in any way that o could. Took classes, watch videos, asked questions, tried and failed and tried and failed again until I got it right. Most importantly, I found my niche and created my own lane of how I love to create beautiful buttercream cakes. I stuck with it, and it paid off. Literally.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to being the CEO/head baker of Caked By Petite Definitely had and still has its struggles and bumps in the road. I had to learn how to not only make beautiful cakes but how to be a professional small business Owner. A lot comes with that. I had to learn the right way to do everything and that alone takes mistakes, experience, hiccups, and time. None of this happened overnight. My true growth didn’t happen within the first year or second year of owning my business as it is still growing and I’m still learning every day at four years in.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Gorgeous Luxury Buttercream Cakes. I’m known for creating stunning cakes for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc out of buttercream icing. My custom cakes have their own unique look and flair. I truly think what sets me apart from others is that I stay in the lane that I created for myself. I create what feels good. I create what I love.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Resilience. Learning how to keep going and learning how to be resilient amongst the difficulties that come with success. Also, I would add having a positive mindset. Keeping a great attitude helps you go far, indeed. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without God as the head of my life. I owe all of my success to God.
