Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb and Micah Moss.
Hi Caleb and Micah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We both have a passion for creating memories through visual storytelling. Our story overlaps with photography. While we both take pictures professionally, our styles are very different and allow us to service a wider client base. One of us may focus more on lifestyle shots while the other strategically uses pictures as constructs for graphic design. During our dating phase, we spoke a lot about building generational wealth and being able to teach our kids a skill that would prove lucrative. Tupelo has allowed us to do just that.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been an interesting one to navigate. While we both possess some similar skills, we didn’t always see eye to eye on how to present our services to clients or even when to launch our business. Crazy enough, COVID gave us the push we needed. Since we were spending a lot more time at home, it gave us an opportunity to think about what we wanted to accomplish with our business, when we wanted to launch, and exactly who our target clientele should be. We learned that a lot of other entrepreneurs were also starting businesses at this time and needed logos, photos and websites for their brands. One of the biggest struggles early on was learning how much we could handle and when to say no to a project.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We aim to enrich businesses and brands with quality content. We do so by taking the time to understand the needs of each of our clients and working with them to tell an honest and clear story. Having the skill set to complete said tasks is one thing but the drive to find “the why” is what separates us from other creatives.
The only thing that’s better than hearing how well received our work is from a client is hearing it from someone referred to us. We are extremely happy not only with the progress we’ve made together but the opportunities that have come based on our past projects.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The industry is leaning more into the “digital world”. We can not only meet with our clients virtually (via Zoom etc.) but we can also handle projects sometimes without actually meeting our client at all. With cloud-based applications such as Dropbox and WeTransfer, we can send files seamlessly from a computer or smartphone.
