Catina R. Fletcher, C.E.O, Author, Cosmetic Chemist & Actor
Empowered herself by building a beauty & Fashion company and becoming an Actress
(Fletcher Kollection/Diamonds Haircare) a well-known brand after being terminated from her career as an Accountant of 12 years.
“Treat your hair like the Diamond it is” – CRF
My story begins in 2007, I worked for a Fort Myers, FL non-profit organization where I started off as a truck driver, But I wanted more. I enrolled myself in school where received my degree in Business Management to “Grow within the Company”. I worked my way up into an office position as the company’s accountant which was a major accomplishment for me. In 2013, I began losing hair which prompted the doctor to diagnose me with Traction Alopecia. It was hard and I lost confidence due to the loss of my hair. I had patches in my head and my edges had broken off really bad. What woman would want to walk around with patches? So, I decided to come up with a formula to solve this problem. My doctor prescribed medication but I knew my medication is what led to the alopecia, and I didn’t want to take more to make it worse. So I decided I’m going to do my homework on this and study the anatomy and the growth process of the hair follicle. On top of my Business Degree, I started studying Science and reading books and taking chemistry classes online. For a year, I tampered around with oils and ingredients and I finally invented something that started growing my hair back. It was a REMARKABLE achievement. This initially was a hobby but my friends and family were impressed with the results of my products and started requesting products for themselves.
In 2017 a day I never expected to happen after the Blood, Sweat, Tears and Time I put into my Education and my Career, I was terminated from my position at the nonprofit organization. That day I decided that I was not going to let that happen to me again and decided to work for myself. That was the day “Diamonds Haircare” was born. I decided from that point on I would only count on myself. I took what I have learned from my hobby and created more products. Diamonds Haircare is for Women, Men, kids anyone who is trying to maintain and grow their mane. My customers are very diverse and come from different backgrounds. I wanted to create something that would work on all types of hair from Chemical Treated to Natural Hair. I have turned my dining room into the production area and my living room is the warehouse where the complete products are stored. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but I have had the chance to build an awesome customer base which is still growing after I appeared on Fox 4 News with Chris Shaw and our sales from our website is doing really great. My next goal is to be located in retail so anyone worldwide can have access to our products and also have our own warehouse for production. (The Diamond represents me “I was a piece coal under pressure now I’m a Diamond Shining Bright”)
What I love about being a female entrepreneur is the fact that my job doesn’t feel like work to me. I find it satisfying, inspiring, challenging and fun. I’m always at my best when I have something to do. Something where I have to solve problems, move things forward, create something. I can always feel my creativity flowing because I use everything around me to get inspiration for my next project and I love that. I love the sense of satisfaction I get when customers tell me what a difference our products have made to their lives. This ranges from hair product junkies to people with challenges such as hair loss and breakage. The emotion is so genuine that it spurs me on to do more and more.” Fast forward….COVID-19 Coronavirus had minimized much of the economy and consumers stayed home to stop the spread, we couldn’t do Pop-Up Shops and the Natural Hair Expo’s was closed down and we didn’t know when they will open back up again, we didn’t want to just wait so, we used online innovations during the pandemic to drive revenue and generate new opportunities for the Diamonds Haircare we took advantage of the growing online market space in which we created Fletcher Kollection Boutique with a K where we focused on the unique fashion sense of the consumer our customer base has grown as they discover the ease and convenience of ordering online while safely at home, shopping with Fletcher Kollection has become an escape route or an at ease zone for consumers who constantly was on guard protecting their families from the virus.
