Daily Inspiration: Meet Denicia Hamilton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denicia Hamilton.

Denicia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I discovered my passion for singing at just six years old. My Mom, a self-taught musician, encouraged me to explore my talents in the community. Every early Sunday morning, my Dad would take my little sister and I to church and prepare the sanctuary for the morning sermon. The first thing I would do is run to the choir stand where the microphones were and sing. Singing is all I wanted to do.

As I became older, I began to take music more seriously. I performed at local talent shows and eventually went to school for music. After graduating, I saved up to move to Atlanta to find more opportunities in the music business.

With the support of my fiancé, we networked with some incredible producers, engineers and songwriters (Jeremiah Adkins “The Mix Guru”, Brian Johnson “Amore Jones” and Colin Leonard “Sing Mastering”).

Which leads me to where I am today. I’m anticipating my first EP ‘Lifeline” which drops on November 26, 2021. In the meantime, my current single “Heart Break Melody” is available for download and streaming. Check it out!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
What is the opposite of smooth? Rough. Bumpy. Harsh. Although my journey is everything but smooth…

I’m learning to fall in love with the process.

I’m learning to expect the unexpected.

I’m learning to always have a Plan C for Plan B.

I’m learning to stay ready so that I won’t have to GET ready.

I’m learning to always be ready to learn.

Every indie artist knows that investing in your craft can be challenging sometimes. Most of the time, our days are dedicated to the 9-5 jobs. So along with taking care of the necessities, we have to stretch ourselves a lot more to be able to achieve goals within our craft.

And here comes the “s” word. Sacrifice.

Should I head to brunch with the girls or head to this recording session?

Should I get that new Telfar bag or use that to invest in my brand/marketing”?

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
“My EP “Lifeline” is a five song project that showcases who I am as an artist and a person. Something like a brief introduction of Denicia Hamilton.

I sing about my worth , heart break (my past), and my journey of establishing my music career and acceptance. This project is literally a symbolism of my life at this moment. My lifeline…except there’s more to come !

I also own a hair company called TRU Strands!
We provide high quality raw hair extensions at an affordable price. Check us out at www.tru-strands.com “.

How do you define success?
I feel like success is when you’re content and mentally/physically healthy with yourself and your life.
