Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Solorio.
Hi Diana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Mexico City. I moved to Georgia when I was 13 after my parent’s divorce. I studied non-profit administration and worked as an admin for a non-profit for five years. There, I worked with an amazing group of capable and smart women who always had the best attitude and made things happen with a smile on their faces. Even though they didn’t always realize how powerful they truly were. I always wondered what it would be like if they owned their power.
After a few years, I moved to the private sector and yet again, I was put in a leadership position leading a group of amazing women to their maximum potential. I realized then that I loved motivating them and helping them become the best version of themselves. I felt a strong calling to do that but at a higher capacity. I just didn’t exactly know-how.
After some time I ran across a group on Instagram based in Houston Tx called “The Latina power” They do exactly what I wanted to do. They create magical events for women to uplift and empower each other. I messaged one of their founders, Claudia Ayala, to see how I could become part of it. She was extremely welcoming and supportive from the beginning. I told her about wanting to create something similar here in Atlanta and she provided all her knowledge and resources from the beginning in order to make this happen. I called a friend whom I think embodies all the characteristics of a powerful uplifting woman, her name is Ana Laura Soto and together we created “La Tribu PodeRosa”. We have been guided all the way through by the amazing women of “The Latina Power” and now we have our very first event set here in Atlanta on May 29th.
I am overjoyed by the amount of love and support we have received from the community and I can not wait to see the outcome of this event. Our hope is that this event can help us connect to empower each other. One thing I know for sure, it will be fun. You do not want to miss it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth. There have been a few struggles along the way, but I’ve learned that difficulties built character and make you wiser.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I have been blessed with many amazing women throughout my life that have guided me and supported me along the way. My mom is the wisest and strongest woman I have ever known. I look up to her so much and I hope one day I can be just a fraction of what she is.
Also, groups like “the Latina Power” and ‘La Tribu PodeRosa” are full of these types of women who want to see all of us win. That is why I am so passionate about being part of these types of events and organizations.
