Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Mizz Official.
Hi DJ Mizz, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started DJing around the age of 16. But I always use to watch my grandfather DJ. Moving vinyl. And setting up turntables. Growing up in church I always loved music. So it’s definitely always been close to my heart. So why not give people a reason to dance with music.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t. I mean being a female DJ is always a tough road. You’re trying to accomplish something in a male dominated industry. I think some of my struggles are just to get noticed sometimes. I’m not one of those female DJs that wear the mini skirts and stuff. I rather be comfortable and DJ. I want the attention on my music not what I’m wearing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in a lot of private events for Veterans. I’m a part of a business called S4L entertainment; it’s a veteran own business and we do all types of events to combat veteran suicide. We have two annual events that we host as of right now. One in West Point NY. The United State Military Academy. And then this year 2023 will be our second year hosting in Downtown Houston Texas. With my DJing if I can change just one life in my community. I feel like I’ve accomplished something.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
You know I don’t believe in good or bad luck. I do believe that what God has for me will be for me. And he’ll always open the right doors for me to move forward with being a DJ. But he will definitely keep the doors close if it’s gonna be detrimental to my career.
