Today we’d like to introduce you to Dontaye Young.
Hi Dontaye, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After being married with two young children by age 25, life is finally settling down and I can focus on my career! I have a deep passion for helping others so most of what I do revolves around that. I want to show others a different way to succeed, respecting others and staying true to yourself. At the end of it all, I want a large plot of land and to be living off-grid.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My life has been anything but smooth! I’ve been through many ups and downs finding my way, but I put my trust in God daily. I know deep my down I have a divine calling that comes with its own unique challenges. Growing up, I really struggled with my identity. I moved around a lot, so by around 10th grade, I started rebelling and gave up on making friends and fitting in. I wasn’t until I really took time to learn myself that I started becoming who I am today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
After high school, I started working in the customer service industry. That’s when I realized I was passionate about helping others. It wasn’t until 2017 that I became a licensed insurance agent. Even though I’ve had my ups and downs, understanding the value of life insurance is what keeps me going. Wealthy people insurance as a tool for generating and maintaining wealth, and part of my mission is to help myself & others do the same. I think people appreciate my authenticity, and that’s what sets me apart. Talking about my struggles and/or taboo topics isn’t an issue for me. Over the years I’ve learned to live from the heart and not care what others think. I actually just wrote my first eBook breaking down how I overcame issues with my self-image & depression.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Honestly, my favorite childhood memories were spending time with my dad, Dontaye Lake. I didn’t see him everyday, but when I did it was always an adventure. He & his wife, Robbin, would take me to places like the circus and Chuck E. Cheese. Not only did we have a lot of fun, he taught me a lot. He taught me how to count money when I was 5. I think that’s why I’m so good at math.
