Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Slater.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a Master’s Cosmetologist in Smyrna, GA. Though this journey has just begun it has been a long road getting to this landmark. This journey started in South Carolina, As my career grew over the years, I always knew in my mind that I wanted to expand my horizon and relocate to a bigger city. At the time, I didn’t have my eyes on ever relocating to Atlanta. My first stop was Columbia, SC. After working there for three months, I quickly realized that the clients that traveled to be serviced by me would travel anywhere I was no matter where I worked. I then relocated back to my original salon The Show Room in Bishopville, SC. After months went by, I began making frequent trips back and forth to Atlanta doing traveling services. At that point, I realized I finally found my new location where I would open my own salon. Now, I am opening my own business in Smyrna, GA. I am excited and looking forward to thriving as a new Licensed Master Cosmetologist in Georgia.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This journey is in its early stages. So far, the process has been great. Though having a little stumble here and there I kept my head held high and climbed the hill. Now that I am on the top of the mountain I plan to strive for success.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
The city brings so much opportunity and success. It speaks volumes when there is a high Black African American success rate. Coming to the city really opened my eyes to what life has to offer. Every visit I’ve made I always walk away inspired and motivated.
There is only one major dislike, the traffic in the city definitely takes some time getting used to.
