Daily Inspiration: Meet Fernando Flores

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernando Flores.

Hi Fernando, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For the majority of my life, my companions have been a camera, a notebook and a football. Writing was my release. Football was an old family friend. But my passion for cinema and audiovisuals began when I started filming my little brother’s football games. I then took it upon myself to create more than that. So, I made movies starring our toys.

I then went to study Communications in Universidad Del Valle de Mexico for two years until I moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Here, I’ve had the opportunity to socialize amongst different people. Allowing myself to learn and acquire knowledge from others’ perspectives and understand different ways to capture the beauty of things and beings. We all are beautiful. We all have something to offer to this world.

Like many young adults trying to make it in the world, I’ve had many jobs but always maintained my goal of doing what I love. Filmmaking. For me, there is no work in that. There is joy. Therefore, I will always immerse myself in doing what I love to do, because “Fortune Favors the Bold.” I have only one life; only one chance to do so.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
What is life without difficulties? I love obstacles. They’ve been alongside me all my life. They make you humble. They make you stronger. They’ve taught me the most important lessons in life. Have allowed me to value my family, show me who I am and appreciate my time on Earth.

As an immigrant, I faced all the challenges that any person goes through when you leave home. I’m lucky to say I’ve came to this country by choice. Not because I had to. Love was the reason. I now understand why they say: “All you need is love”. Love can change anything. It can truly change the world. It changed mine for one.

I dropped out of college in Mexico (of course, my family was pissed). Applied for my visa, worked to save some money and I arrived in the U.S.A in July 2011 with some big dreams and goals in mind. Of course, some have changed with the passing of the time. But my will to obtain anything with hard work and passion has stayed the same. Since my family was not here, I learned how to deal with difficulties on my own. I’ve done things I never thought I could. Discovered that I can do anything I want to. Learned how important it was in life to not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong. That’s how we discover ourselves. Without challenges, we would never know how powerful we really are. Again, why I welcome challenges with open arms.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think everybody who knows me describes me as a creative person. I like to think I am, even when all I do is follow my instinct. It’s been a few years now that I decided to become a full-time filmmaker and have found some great success. I’ve founded my own company called: FLOWWERZ PRODUCTIONS. Where I make videos/content for artists and businesses. I’m also currently working on a film that I hope I can release by next year under my production company!

I also have a podcast called: LA KAPSULA. It is a bilingual space to talk and express opinions with friends and guests. It’s been growing greatly over the years. Locally and even in Latin America and Spain! It has opened many doors to meet great people, businesses and big artists from other parts of the world and I’m truly proud of the project.

Most recently, I have created a startup called: KREATIVO BOX. A marketing agency based in Atlanta and Mexico. Specialized in web development, social media and audio-visual production. Because if I’m already making videos and content for business, why not to help them to distribute it, right?

Oh yes, and when I’m inspired, I upload music to all music platforms by the name SR. FLOR3Z.

What sets me apart from others? Well, let the people decide. The only thing that I know it is that I do what I LOVE TO DO.

I fight to avoid the standard, trendy or expected. Every project I’m involved I’m looking to leave my mark.

I value my ideas more than anything and live by a saying that goes: “No tengo miedo de ser diferente, tengo miedo de ser como ellos”.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Freedom and time. I can’t imagine living a life with no freedom to spend my time how I like it.
