Daily Inspiration: Meet Hippy Mann

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hippy Mann.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first started making and selling beats as a hobby around four years ago. As a local horticulturist and business owner, music was the only thing that stayed the same in an ever-changing world. As an avid EDM fan and festival goer, it only made sense that I would start to produce my own electronic music. After my mother’s passing in 2019, I coped by starting the Hippy Mann project. My mother was an amazing woman with huge Hippie vibes. She used to call me her “lil Hippy Mann” She was the one that I would call for advice, to rant, or give input on a new beat that was in the kitchen still. With her gone and no one else to call, I leaned into the music. I built a studio in my spare room and just worked and taught myself the ins and outs of EDM production while others were sleeping. Being raised in the south and surrounded by many different types of music, I enjoy merging different genres into a trap heavy bass knocking melodic masterpiece.

With around ten singles released in the dance genre since 2021 , Everyday I’m learning something new whether it be in sound design or music theory, the constant challenge of making something from nothing is very exciting and something that I see myself doing and experimenting in for a long time. With being an EDM producer also comes with the live performance. I pretty much taught myself how to Dj by finding a used DJ controller from the internet and pressing buttons and turning knobs until I figured it all out. After a lot of experimenting and many long nights, I got a few small gigs and started hosting underground parties and house parties to hone in my Dj skills further. Fast forward just over a year to this summer where I have traveled to perform at music festivals, Raves, and continue to do the pop up parties and looking to further my presence in the EDM world at every possible chance given.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not necessarily a smooth road, one of the main hurdles is having terrible internet service at home. Really makes it hard to do any live streams or even upload videos with the same ease that most people have.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) Producer/DJ.

Southern raised Hippy Mann creates trap inspired melodic tracks with a unique sound that induces hype, yet chill vibes. Still continuing to create and produce beats, Hippy is now focused on his debut EDM EP. While continuing to drop new EDM singles each month and keeping his free thinking principals, Hippy blends together many EDM genres to fit his own musical taste. Influenced by artists such as RL Grime, TroyBoi, Nghtmre, Tropkillaz, and Alison Wonderland, Hippy brings his own unique sounds cadenced with heavy bass and trap drums laced with heavy build-ups and melodic riffs to leave listeners in Hippy vibes.

Hippy is no stranger to EDM as he has been an avid Fan and supporter of the culture for the last 15 years. in 2019 Hippy finally decided to start releasing singles from his vault. From what started as an after work hobby for Hippy now has him collaborating on upcoming releases with The Game, AZIZ, Lil Quell, and more. When not creating new music or performing a slappin set on stage, Hippy is a nature loving horticulturist on a mission to put trees in the ground and beautify his surroundings with flora.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important quality that has been important to my success would have to be problem solving skills. I’m a critical problem solver and it definitely helps to have that in your portfolio when it comes to diving into things you have no idea about. With positive vibes and consistent drive I always make things work.
