

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janine Johnson.
Hi Janine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
So, I’ve always been a pretty creative person. I’ve always loved music, interior design, cooking and art (I can’t draw at all, but my brother is a talented artist out in Las Vegas). As I look back throughout my life, I realize now that I’ve actually been creating unique experiences, as an expression on my love for other, all my life. During my 30 years of working in the corporate world, I would constantly take on event planning for close friends, family members and a small group of clients, which allowed me to strengthen my skills and exercise my creative abilities. Every event was something new and fresh, and it fed my creative spirit just enough to keep going…until the next event! As a leader, I would always plan special events and outings for my teams because I believe these types of shared experiences create stronger bonds and more productive teams. This variety was drastically different from the recurring routine that my normal job had provided and gave me an opportunity to challenge my imagination in a way that would cater to others and provide them with the perfect experience that they had imagined. I’m a big believer in speaking things into existence and following your dreams, so, when I finally decided to leave the corporate world and make a drastic career shift, it was like the Universe just opened its doors and the opportunity to take on The Rented Event was right there. I am so blessed to continue and expand the legacy of a business that was created by two sisters and was built out of love.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Taking on The Rented Event was a very fast-paced transition. Suddenly I was the owner of a multitude of different decoration elements, and not only was that a lot to comprehend, but I also had to consider the team that I needed to hire as we planned for the future. Thankfully, through connections and previous relationships, I was able to bring together a team of driven, motivated, and just all around good people, which keeps TRE running smoothly. In addition to that, the quick takeover of the business taught all of us how to work under pressure, which is especially helpful considering how many obstacles and unplanned events that can pop up during the planning and implementation of these events. Despite the initial stress and uncertainty that came with the new business, it all came together, which is more than I could’ve asked for.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Most people know The Rented Event as “The Home of $5 Chiavari Chairs”, but we are so much more. In addition to that, TRE is a full-service design, decor, and rental business. We have pipe and draping, furniture, backdrops, chargers and beautiful vases and centerpieces for rent. We also design and install decor for wedding ceremonies, receptions and other events. I am the creative voice behind the customized design work, and I take pride in providing unique, personalized, and efficient services to all of our clients, which includes customers, event planners, other vendors and venues. As a business, we are not only focused on culminating beautiful designs, but we also prioritize communication and want to make sure clients are confident and comfortable in their decision to work with us. That being said, we hope to create long-lasting connections with each of our clients and look forward to continued partnerships with all of them.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
In addition to working with customers, we love working directly with event planners and venues. We’ve found that working directly with our colleagues allows us to be more flexible in our approach and provide the best experience for our shared customers. Last year was an amazing experience for us and we’re looking forward to working with more customers and industry colleagues in the future.
