Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Willoughby.
Hi Joshua, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had respect for photography. I would always be the one snapping photos of everything growing up. One random day about three years ago, I finally purchased my first dslr. I wanted to give it a try and see how good I can be. It went from being a fun hobby to something I love and brings me happiness. I think of it now as an art. And just wanna create and share my art with people. I feel like I have a couple levels until I reach my potential
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been easy. I actually stopped for a while. When I lost my parents two years ago, I thought I had nothing left to bring me joy. But there was photography. Honestly, after that it saved me. Helped me escape the pain and filled that void of emptiness.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in portraits. The thing I’m known for I’d say is thinking on the fly and coming up with ideas and concepts on the fly. I can find inspiration in something and put my style and twist to it. That’s what sets me apart and makes me proud.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I feel like the industry is only going to get better and better. With so many people being creatives now, the sky is the limit. The pandemic made a lot of people realize they got hidden talent and potential. I think you’ll see more ambitious things out of creatives in general.
