Today we’d like to introduce you to Kwona Walker.

Hi Kwona, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, My name Kwona Walker, 36, a wife of amazing 4 years and a mother of 5 beautiful children. Well, my story started when I was a little girl. I started playing with makeup and it was just my passion. I always was in love with art and my mother recommended me to go to this Art school called Kendall Art. There I learned skills still help me to this day. As a teenager me and my best friend would do each other’s makeup and we came up with different ways to look Unique. It wasn’t until I reached my 20’s when I started to take being a M.U.A. serious. Although at the time, I had very little money I decided to invest into a practice kit and started doing my makeup as a hobby also as a stress reliever. It was my passion so I would put my everything into it. Being self-taught, from the beginning I always asked God to show me the way… I prayed to become great at something. Having kids and being a single mother was hard but I stayed strong and learned as much as possible. Today I am so thankful and graceful that God answers my prayers. He gave me the skills and confidence to be what I always wanted to be and now I am able to be that mother my children deserve. Today I am that wife that has the Best husband and partner. He’s my Best friend.

I will always want to give thanks to Sharon Dumas of Fit Full and Fabulous. When I met her, I was young and she seen potential in me. I joined the Fit Full and Fabulous Family and that spark that I needed to start my career take  off. Sharon Dumas was very professional in her work in helping build overweight young girl’s and women’s confidence. Her words was like Angels saying Kwona go for it. Now is your time is the last thing I heard before waking up with a whole new look on life. Today the world have me.

Kween Kwona more than just your M.U.A.

I feel I am a Gift.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, the road I travel to get where I’m at so far hasn’t at all been easy. I lost my best friend and wanted to keep our dream alive. I suffered greatly along the way physically and mentally. I was really in a long-lost dark place after the passing of my best friend. Being young and not knowing how to deal with my emotions. I just needed someone other than my mother that I could talk to and trust and that’s where Brian stepped in. His love and support for me and my children seem to be what I needed. Seeing his love be real made me feel special. We wanted better for our family and we decided to move from Grand Rapids Michigan to Atlanta Georgia. Our move wasn’t easy we lost everything we had. No money, no food, no way to provide. We had to do what we knew to do the best. Him cooking food and selling it and me doing makeup together, we overcame lots of Adversity with the help of my mother. As a team, we strive to move forward. God being on one hand and our family on the other, we stayed right in between and let our journey continue. Nothing that’s special comes easy everything of value takes time. Life is about learning and re-learning new things and ways to survive with God first, I am a firm believer in all things possible.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a self-taught M.U.A, I specialize in Glamour and Bridal makeup. I’m also a professional skincare consultant.

I’m a traveling Freelance M.U.A. based in the Atlanta area. I’m pretty known for my social media platforms, also my creative looks and modeling photos. I am always professional when working on clients and I’m very patient. Usually when you book an appointment with me, I’m on time or early. I am proud to have the support system I have with my family always being there for me and helping with whatever needs to be done in my absence. I think the thing that sets me apart from other M.U.A. is How I can take a look and recreate it on my clients and bring natural beauty and turn it into art. My out the box thinking and creativity that becomes a masterpiece. I’m also proud of how I inspired other up and coming M.U.A. to strive to be great. The makeup community to me is a whole other world where we all are family. I’m so proud to be a part of what makes me happy.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Safety always comes first. Although everyone has their own opinion of how to work in times like dealing with COVID-19, I practice being safe as possible. This means from keeping hands clean at all times wearing face mask for me. Also, keeping my utensils clean l. I used to scan my client’s heads to check temperatures and ask the same questions they would ask you at the hospital before going forward with my work. I have had to cancel appointments due to some clients not being safe. But as an MUA I don’t have the option to be 6ft apart. So I’ve learned to continue to practice sanitation. But most of all Appreciate life and be in the moment, and thank God everyday for waking me up just see and hug my family.
