Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeisha Smith.
Hi Lakeisha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I go by Keke The Great. Growing up a black female lesbian was hard. Plus being the middle child. I never got as much as my siblings due to bad timing in life. My faith in God allowed me to grow and become tough. When my courage became stronger I self published three books (Love, lust & secrets: The Epitome of an unsustainable life, Wet Urges and Sexual Beast: Tales of the Barbarian Part 1) in the short time of a year and a half. In the middle of writing three books I entered into the world of acting by playing a speaking role in my first short film The Hairst. The life of comedy that has lived in me since as king as I remember. My mama used to say where is my missing check for you child. Lol. I performed my first comedy stand up earlier this year. Since then I have been a feature, won two competitions (one in Atlanta and one in St. Louis), performed at open mics and opened for a veteran hilarious comedian Gerald Kelly. I have skits and everyday life videos on my social media’s. Keke_the_great_comedy. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me. The world will see the fire that grows inside of me for the world of creativity.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I struggled with some childhood events being gay. I struggled with my confidence for a while until I have my problems to God.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a stand up comedian from New Orleans, La but live in Georgia. I specialize in writing and having fun. I’m most proud of the courage and beast that lies within. I am never going to stop until I show the world my art. Which is a new vision of things through my eyes.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My wife plays a big role in my life. She doesn’t miss a show and she works a full time job. My wife keeps me grounded and always makes me feel real.
My mother and sister’s support has been like no other. The love and cheering gives me hope for an amazing time ahead.
