Today we’d like to introduce you to Lavish Visuals.
Hi Lavish, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, Id never knew what I 100% wanted to do in life. I just knew that I would be big someday. Wasn’t until my older cousin who was a rapper put a camera in my hands at the age of 13 to record some content of him. Immediately I fell in love with videography but never looked at it as a career. From there, I started practicing more and tried to gain clientele by charging $50-$80 for music videos. Ended up only getting one customer every few months and by time I was around 15, I abandoned the whole idea. Picked up a job at McDonalds and just hustled and stacked my money until the pandemic came around and I realized I didn’t want to work anymore. I was there for two years and I couldn’t do it anymore. Saved up my last few checks, bought a new upgraded camera and ended up quitting. Those couple of months without a job was hard but I couldn’t turn back. Day by day, I started gaining my clientele. Wasn’t until my camera mentor Qasquiat told me the ropes to the NYC outdoor photography scene that I started taking pictures. After that, I was officially known for videos and photos. Traveling to the city doing one shoot a day turned into 3-4 shoots a day after being consistent. Being that I graduated high school early, I had time to keep building my brand. Then I knew I wanted to expand by going to ATL for more opportunities and better clients. My 2nd top choice for college was Clark ATL and I ended up getting accepted and knew everything was meant to be. First month in ATL was depressing, didn’t have no clientele and I wasn’t used to that. But as time went by and people on my campus got familiar with me, that all started to change. And with me being in Black Hollywood, I got a chance to capture moments of people such as Jayda Wayda, Toosii, Lil Baby, Lil Meech and many more!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The most hardest obstacle was transitioning from NYC to ATL. I didn’t have no type of clientele. One challenge was saving up money for my camera due to it costing thousands of dollars.
Another challenge that I went through was losing friendships and relationships on this journey.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m Lavish Visuals and I am known as a Lifestyle photographer/videographer. So a little bit of depth of what that is…my definition of lifestyle photos are pictures that show off people outfits and looks and as far as videos I look at it as video that captures moments and make people feel as if they were there. It can be a music video, recap video, party video, etc… The whole idea behind my name “lavish” is that I want everyone who comes to do shoots with me to feel uplifted about themselves, no matter the skin color, social status, or looks. I want everybody to get a feel for the lavish lifestyle and that you can live the lavish lifestyle no matter what phase you are in your life. I am most proud of my slogan “in your element”. I feel most proud of this because when nobody was really there for me I had myself and didn’t let nobody take me out my element. Always remained consistent with myself and knew that there would be a prize at the end. Therefore the theme of lavish is a burning heart. It essentially means how compassionate you are in demystifying the complexity of your own life and the reason behind the universe’s existence overall.
What makes you happy?
Things that make me happy would be My off days.
Seeing my work pay off.
Being able to work for myself.
