Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Young.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My internal love for fashion and style has always been there. I’ve always gleamed over fashion magazines from a young age. I learned to use them as inspiration when I couldn’t think of what to wear. In 2018, I started an online boutique. I held in-home trunk shows to sell clothing and meet new customers/clients. By 2019, I was using social media to market my clothing. I would style models for content to enhance my boutique business. That is where my love for styling came into play. I began working as an Assistant Stylist here in Atlanta and learned to style on sets and for music videos. Today, I’ve worked with Artists, business professionals, and major brands like Cream of Nature and Crown Royal to style their commercials. I’m really living my dream!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This journey has had obstacles for sure. Everyone has access to the glamorous side to styling because the results are on display. In reality, there’s a lot of planning and people behind the scenes and lots of opinions to decipher. Between project deadlines, budgets, and shopping, styling can quickly turn into the ultimate stressor. Depending on my client at the time, additional pressure is added from publicists or executives to get the visuals right. My biggest struggles have been the sacrifices of time to spend with my family. My kids are still young so I’m choosing to balance life as a wife, mom and entrepreneur to build wealth for all of us. The journey has its ups and downs but I love what I do, so that drive encourages me to keep pushing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Yes! I am a Wardrobe and Fashion Stylist. I help businesses and professionals enhance their advertising to promote impact and command rooms. I’m most proud of my ability to create the right look and evoke the right emotions based on their styling needs. I know that my energy and my team’s ability to create real results is what sets us apart from others. It’s hard to find good people who show up on set, fully engaged and ready to provide friendly service. We’re a 100% “good vibes only” type of creative business and I’m most proud of that.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is the experience that my clients have working with me. Next level experiences matter! I love when clients look at their styled pictures and get excited from our ability to execute their vision. I really want to touch lives and leave a legacy.
