Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Harvey.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from a small town out in Northwest Georgia, where the idea of motion graphics and 3D art are not super familiar. That didn’t deter me though from wanting to pursue it and it became one of the catalysts to make me want to dive deeper into 3D and editing software. What really made me want to pursue it even further though were watching movies and trying to figure out what they did to create scenes and effects. That lead to a rabbit hole of information and understanding of different techniques that allowed me to create films and art that I didn’t think were possible at the time. This mixed with the support of my parents and teachers lead to me doing this professionally.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road that has been my career or even my life has been a crazy and weird experience so far. I never see it as a road that has been in one direction but something that branch off into multiple different roads. One thing has always led to another thing but somehow it’s all connected. It has its ups and downs but it all helps in building who I am.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I mostly create 3D art. I’m proud of the fact that I found something that I really enjoy doing. When I finished creating art and making videos I would upload everything to the internet. It became a catalog of my work without me even thinking of it as such. So with doing my EVERYDAY project, every day I would post work for everyone to see. Over time that has become what most people know me for as well as the work that I’ve done for certain clients. I try to stay consistent and persevere through projects that I embark on and I think that could definitely make me stand out from others.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I see success as something that I will never come close to. It’s always something that I can see but it’s never distinct. A blur that will never show a clear image. I’m always moving towards it trying to understand what that will be but at the same time it’s moving away as well. I will probably never see that form of success, but it’s fun to try and strive for that.
