Exploring Life & Business with Anna Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Harris.

Hi Anna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a young black 17-year-old. I’ve always been an entrepreneur. Before starting my current nail business, I’ve always found ways to make money since I’ve been in elementary. I started off selling D.I.Y lip glosses and balms out of a decorated shoebox. I then created a YouTube channel. With dedication and faith, I‘ve reached 15k subscribers and is a source of income. I also had started to flip items from the beauty supply store. Items like jewelry, beauty and nail polish prices would be doubled or tripled in price then sold on Mercari. In December 2019, I had the urge for more and to create another business. That’s when I dove headfirst and started my nail business, Anna Nailed it. It’s almost been a year and I’ve grown tremendously! This business has taught me important life lessons, including to never give up! I’m grateful and would like to inspire other young teens on the path to entrepreneurship.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been multiple times were I’ve wanted to give up… Especially when I was first starting and I was a beginner, negative comments and being looked down on really took a toll on me. I’ve had to deal with friends and family not being supportive, feeling alone and a lot of self-doubts. Despite the many downfalls, I persevered and never gave up!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a 17-year-old nail tech. I specialize in Acrylic nails. I’m known for my work and my YouTube channel. I’m most proud of my dedication and ability to make myself an income no matter the circumstances. What sets me apart from others is my ambition, mindset, positivity and how I strive for greatness!

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Covid-19 has been a wake-up call for me. It taught me to not take thing for granted, gratitude and self-love.
