Exploring Life & Business with Amy Lloyd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lloyd.

Amy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey to becoming a wellness studio owner began in Corporate America. As a college student, I dreamed of flying airplanes and worked in the aviation field after graduating. While volunteering with young girls just after 9/11, I realized that my calling was to be working in the helping field. At that time, I left corporate, sold my home, worked thankfully as a server, and returned to school to become a therapist. The 180-degree shift has given me the opportunity to sit with hundreds of amazing souls. Working as a therapist has not only been challenging but also rewarding and moving. As a former athlete, I also knew that the mind and body are intricately connected and this led me down the path of becoming a certified yoga teacher. Over the years, I’ve incorporated breathwork/meditation, yoga philosophy, and mind/body connection into my practice.

When the pandemic hit, I knew it was time personally to get back to important bodywork. It was then the idea of creating a calm space for continued healing took shape. It was wonderful luck to find a loft in downtown Roswell and many call the space magical, it is! The center opened in 2021 and offers a haven for women and men where they have options. Clients and students can choose from psychotherapy/counseling, yoga informed psychotherapy, private yoga sessions, classes, and unique workshops.

I’m very grateful to be serving the community in and around Roswell with mind/body wellness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m not unique and have experienced challenges that looking back helped me gain valuable lessons. One has been a back injury from athletics which over time and overuse led to two serious spinal surgeries. It makes it difficult to sit and a therapist’s job is to sit! I have great compassion for chronic pain and also in the resilience the body has to heal. I can also be an advocate to students in yoga and therapy to listen to your body and slow down. Our value is in being, not in DOING.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Amy Lloyd, Wellness & Yoga specializes in mind/body wellness. A unique aspect of the center is that clients and students can focus on counseling/therapy if they need support in areas such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationships. If students are thinking more about trying yoga or yoga-informed psychotherapy we offer this specialty as well. Yoga classes are all levels focusing on more than the physical. In addition, each month we offer specialized workshops such as Sound Journeys, Brain Health, Women’s Circles, etc.

All are welcome in the center and the only requirement is an open mind to the knowledge that our bodies have the wisdom to bring us back into balance. We all could use this support today.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have worked with mentors and continue to network with like-minded folks. It’s uplifting to share and learn from each other.
