Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Brisco Perry.
Hi Brittney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Honestly, I feel like I’ve been in “training” for this business my entire life. Even as a young girl, my friends, family, and sometimes people I barely even knew would come to me for words of encouragement, advice, and guidance. After being bullied to the point of constant tears and not wanting to go to school many days in middle school, I started spending a lot of time thinking about and analyzing the actions of other people and the reactions that they cause. I wanted to know why people did and said certain things, why people treated others in certain ways, why bad things happened to good people, and why some seemingly “bad” people were successful while other seemingly “good” people were not. I began to critically observe the world, and I became a student of life. It sounds cliché, but I genuinely wanted to figure out how I could help make the world a better, more peaceful, and more equitable place. Once I learned how to stand up for and protect myself, I then made it my business to stand up for and protect other people.
Unfortunately, in the midst of me reclaiming my own power and trying to find the balance between being the better person and not taking any wooden nickels, I sometimes found myself on the wrong end of the spectrum being the bully that I despised. So I learned how easy it is for hurt people to hurt people and how to have compassion for people on both sides. I learned that no matter what space you find yourself in along your journey, you can always learn, grow, change, and evolve. At any moment, you can make a decision to be different, to think differently, and to show up differently in the world because there is always life worth living beyond the circumstances you see right now. I learned that absolutely no one is exempt from needing wise counsel and guidance throughout life. No one is too big, too strong, too talented, too intelligent, nor too influential to benefit from effective coaching.
Throughout my 31 years of living thus far, I’ve personally experienced a multitude of traumas, trials, and immense losses, as well as innumerable successes, achievements, victories, and wins; and I ultimately realize that it is a part of my purpose on this earth to coach others through some of those very same things. Since coaching always came so naturally to me, for many years I coached people free of charge until it started to feel like a burden on my life. So I eventually made the decision to combine my desire to provide help with my desire to generate wealth, and I established Beyond Now Coaching, LLC. I birthed a business out of my passion for encouraging, empowering, and inspiring others. Not only does being paid properly for pouring into others lift much of that burden, but structuring it as a business also allows me to scale my coaching operation to impact the lives of more people than I could ever imagine. Not only do I offer life and confidence coaching to adults, but because of my experience, education, and certifications in working with and counseling school-aged youth, I also offer life coaching for teens, and because of my education and background in business administration, I additionally offer business coaching and consulting.
No matter which arm of my business I’m operating in at any given moment, I always aim to encourage, empower, and enliven my clients while helping them develop the best strategy and plan of action to move forward from where they are currently to where they desire to be personally and/or professionally.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It certainly has not been a smooth road. Whenever you make a decision to do work for the greater good, life will throw obstacles in your way to challenge that decision and to find out how bad you really want it. When you agree to be an encourager for others, immense discouragement will come knocking at your door to find out if you truly meant what you said. And when you decide to be a source of empowerment for other people, you will surely find yourself in some disempowering situations. Throughout my journey, I’ve experienced dichotomies such as the high of marriage and the low of divorce, the high of childbirth and the low of stillbirth, the high of graduating with honors and the low of failing classes, the high of being applauded for my brilliance and the low of being “shamed” for my success. However, through it all, I have chosen and am continuing to choose to remain steadfast and keep pushing through because somebody somewhere needs the anointing that stirs on the inside of me.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Through my business, Beyond Now Coaching, LLC, I offer 1-on-1 and group coaching and consulting to adults, teens, and business owners. I also offer empowerment and motivational speaking services for organizations, special events, conferences, churches, schools, and more. What sets me apart from others is my undeniable ability to quickly recognize problem areas, propose adequate solutions, and gracefully execute plans that produce desired results. What I teach others is not theoretical, it’s not just a bunch of words I read in a book; I’ve lived it, I’ve learned it, and I’ve intentionally developed the skills necessary to advise others on how to properly strategize and realize sustainable change. My coaching, consulting, and speaking are never one-dimensional because I have degrees and experience in a variety of industries including but not limited to chemistry, forensic science, business administration, counseling, teaching, organizational leadership, sales, entrepreneurship, church ministry, nonprofit administration, youth services, financial services, public speaking, mentorship, mental health advocacy, career guidance, and the list goes on. I’ve gleaned much wisdom from my various life and career experiences, and this has made it possible for me to shape and sharpen my perspective and have a multidimensional approach to every situation.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is to always be kind but stop being so nice. Being kind to yourself and others is necessary; it cultivates an environment for good things to thrive. However, being “nice” knows no boundaries and is fundamentally unwise; it places you on a platter for the world to eat you alive.
