Exploring Life & Business with Calijah Durant of Kash Collectors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Calijah Durant.

Hi Calijah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Kash Collectors was an idea I created over quarantine and took seriously as I came back to Atlanta and enrolled in Morehouse College. The idea was inspired my late uncle who not only was a rapper himself but someone who always tried to help give back and be a good person somehow. This motivated me to carry his name as well as put it into something I was passionate in to create something bigger. The mission for KC is to manage artists/entertainers and utilizing our connections and services in order to help pursue their personal dreams and goals. KC started with managing two artists, producers, as well as adding a DJ to the team, and now we manage 6 artists and has helped our first two artists be the pioneers to our movement. After recently dropping our EP Pressure Dependent, each artist have been working on their sound and are ready to show their talent to the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Going through the motions of running my own management service can be difficult at times. The most difficult part of this experience is accepting rejection and staying patient. Any person feels like as long as they work they should receive something in return, but with something like music, you have to gain respect and the reward of your hard work. Also, you have to not only be content with hearing no but also willing to allow the doubt to motivate and fuel you. These two things helped me fall in love with the process and actually enjoy working with artists and doing what it takes to put the people I represent to the top!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kash Collectors?
Kash Collectors Ent is a full-service entertainment management organization for artist athletes and other talent holders. Currently, we are focused on music and content creation to achieve notoriety and gain experience. Working with my partners, I tend to build a trusting family relationship in order to keep the artists comfortable and to know that regardless we will stand beside you. I am most proud of my brand’s authenticity and our passion to do what it takes to get us to the next level. We know that there are tons of people chasing the same goal as us, so we stay focused and true to ourselves, our target is in site. Understanding how sometimes artists within labels do not understand their contracts or even not having true support throughout their careers, Kash Collectors are very active within their artist’s career life. Whether it’s music videos, interviews, showcases, etc, we are always available for assistance and advice on music.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I daily watch podcasts involving artists and entertainers such as NoJumper, OnTheRadar Radio, and Million Dollaz Worth of Game. It gives me an inside look on a lot of my favorite artists, drops gems about stuff that can help me improve within my business, and keeps me motivated that this can be my artist one day.
