Exploring Life & Business with Evan Jones of Supreme Financial Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Jones.

Hi Evan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was introduced to the Tax Service industry in 2013 when I was offered a part time independent contractor role as a Tax Preparer with a small Financial Services firm. Over the next 3-4 years I was able to significantly improve my business and grow my clientele base while still working part time. In 2017, I decided to take a leap of faith by stepping out of my comfort zone in Atlanta,GA and moved to Los Angeles,CA where I started my own Financial Services company Supreme Financial Group. After maxing out all of my credit cards and investing everything I had, I was able to successfully build my business from the ground up and grow my clientele to the point I could work 100% full-time as a tax professional. In 2019, after 2 successful years in L.A. and shortly after my daughter was born, I relocated back to Atlanta and opened a new office. Since that time I have continued to scale my business by offering additional tax & small business services as well as hiring additional staff to the company. Each year since 2017 our firm has continued to grow in clientele and revenue. We now service 500+ clients and gross over $215,000 in revenue annually.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Looking back, I experienced several very challenging times along the way. One of the biggest struggles I faced when getting started was learning how to actually run/manage the various ins and outs of an entire business. At the time I was very naïve to how difficult the transition would be. These struggles forced me to log countless hours of research and studying to educate myself on key business principles as well as ways to improve my skill sets. Another huge hurdle I faced were the rough times I struggled financially as a young entrepreneur with a family to support. I had to learn how to make significant personal sacrifices in order to reinvest back into my business to keep it afloat. It required extreme discipline and perseverance to keep pushing forward and to not give up. However, I would not change those experiences b/c these challenges are what shaped me into the person and business owner I am today.
