Exploring Life & Business with India Johnson of iART Productionsj

Today we’d like to introduce you to India Johnson.

Hi India, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I have always been a creative individual. Over time I realized the infinite amount of opportunities in creating not just for others but for myself. The birth of my business came about in my first year of college. iART Productionsj LLC is a creative service haus with a focus on catering to business owners, startups, and entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities.

Today through this business, I have been able to better serve my community in being able to work with clients and bring their visions to life. I was able to hone my skills more at Florida A&M University studying Graphic Design, being able to work with Google while at FAMU and learn more in depth about UX. All of the knowledge I have gained, I am able to better service the community as a whole to provide these services to help their business, services, and products flourish.

Aside from providing creative services, I recently published my own children’s book, Zuki and the Oh So Amazing Band from Outer Space, highlighting the importance/ magic of HBCUs and the HBCU bands. I also design apparel for my business seasonally to create and have stuff for the iART Community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a business owner, especially at a young age is a learning curve (I won’t say struggle, haha it was a learning experience) that I adjusted to with time, persistence, and consistency. Making shirts was an experience where I had to change from entrepreneur/designer to scientist and figure out the right materials I wanted to use and equipment. So I became a mini scientist and conducted trials. Many experiences like those where I go above and beyond is because I like what I do, the freedom I have, and the new things I learn along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
iART Productionsj LLC is a creative haus. I have knowledge and experience in graphic design, illustration/digital illustration, UX Design, and more! I’m known for being invested in what I’m working on. Whatever it is, I will put my best foot forward and step!

Brandwise, I am most proud of my logo because I ART! I will create in any medium needed and anything thing you can dream of, imagine I am working with you to get your vision to come to life.

I am also big on consulting/mentoring the youth on anything creative/business-wise. It all starts with a vision (for me at least) and you have to keep that kid inside yourself alive and full of creativity and imagination (Some points Zuki and the Oh So Amazing Band From Outer Space point out)! Feel free to reach out to me via the iART website or any medium.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years, I feel more people will be business owners and help serve their communities through these businesses. I also believe that the next generation will go further and accomplish things a lot earlier with the knowledge they will possess. They will not wait around for someone to think they are good enough but will prove it and build their own, to pass on to the next generation.
