Exploring Life & Business with James Bouler

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Bouler.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all started with the love of golf, at the early age of 12. As a young black boy, In order to help my family, I used to caddy at an all-white golf club, called Carolina Country Club. This is where I asked the man I was caddying for if I could try and hit a ball? He replied, “the only thing a N*****R can do out here is caddy”! Years passed by and times had changed a little, and my golf game became a way for me to make money, and I began to play/gamble against some of the best! Just to name a few, Micheal Jordan, Dean Chapmon, Lawrence Taylor, etc. I went from an outhouse, to a Pent House, to the jailhouse! Now wrote my book to tell the whole story, about what really went down on the golf courses, and how it all played out.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
By being born in the 50s, nothing was smooth for the African Americans! My main struggle with dealing with prejudice people on the golf course. It was very hard for us to get an opportunity to play at all!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Self-employed / Carrier/ Author?
I deliver bread to different companies, therefore I am a people person because I meet new people every day. You also know that my life experiences has taught me to be a humble and patient individual. I am proud of myself, to have written my life story in a book called I bet on-air and lost it all! No matter what cards you are dealt in life, if you keep the faith and stay humble, you can do anything!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see my book reaching people of all races, and I see people’s eyes being opened to the truth about the negativity, racial separation and prejudice acts, that are being performed on golf courses all around the world. I hope to not only have my book to go worldwide, but also I hope for a filmmaker to pick up my book, and make a film about the struggles of a black golfer playing a so-called white man only sport!
