Hi Krystal, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After having three babies, the knowledge and experience I had gained was valuable information for women to use and implement in their lives as birthing persons and healthy living. I realized how much of a threat the hospital systems have become to minority women and made it my goal to do something about it. As a holistic doula, I wanted to assist women in birthing healthy wholesome babies but have the knowledge to protect themselves from the adversities of medical businesses. Birth control has been a threat and is currently a threat on black women everywhere. I created a spermicide oil that will change the world forever!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Along the way, people couldn’t exactly trust the fact that I had created a natural birth control. As a matter of fact, people thought the terms “natural birth control” wasn’t a real thing. They said I was lying for money and trying to set people up for pregnancy. I had to pull out my books and educate people on the use of herbs that predate our current medical systems. I went viral and TikTok, receiving half a million views on videos and people shamed me! They often threatened me with being sued for doing something so ridiculous like “misleading our youth” or claiming to be a doctor. Popular OBGYN on Tiktok often comment on my content asking where’s my credentials and where is the information to back up what I am saying. When I began to share stories on how my ancestors were using elephant bowel movement as birth control or how our slave ancestors used okra juice as a natural birth control, I guess they gave me a chance. Natural birth control hashtag now has some many views on TikTok and became a real topic. Checking your body temperatures, abstinence and following your ovulation calendar are the popular choices for natural birth control methods but people always seem to leave out spermicides. Well, pharmaceutical known spermicide ingredient, nonoxynol-9 is dangerous and harmful to women. Showing my followers that my efforts are only to help, I got a major increase in sales but more importantly, I developed a huge following on TikTok and Instagram. When my content began to circulate more and more, Instagram and Facebook began to shadow ban and sensor my profile. They said that my content and information goes against their health guidelines. I am not advertising anything to harm anyone but to help and now I can’t use Instagram and Facebook marketing. These obstacles have not stopped my grind, I am still moving forward by censoring my language, using misspelled words that pronounce the same Facebook-approved censored words. For example “sex” as “seks/seggs”. Nothing will stop my grind! I plan for the MYMO to reach high platforms and become the new generation method for safe sex.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Due to covid-19, I learned that in the midst of what seems to be chaos, there is still opportunities. When things seem uncertain, get to the drawing boards and create plans. Of those plans, start executing one of them and don’t procrastinate. While things may seem unavailable there is always another option or route to take. My business took a great hit and I realized I had to improvise and be creative because the Farusha Brand wasn’t going to be one of the businesses that closed because of the pandemic, instead it’ll be a brand with tremendous growth during a worldwide pandemic with worldwide exposure. All in all, I learned to focus on the light in a dark tunnel.
