Exploring Life & Business with Tiffany Stephens of Chancey Prince

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Stephens.

Hi Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Chancey Prince started before I knew it was a business. It is truly the product of the love I have for my own dog, Chancey. Like most dogs he loves treats, but I started to notice that he was having adverse reactions when eating store brought treats. His veterinarian confirm that there were ingredients in his treats that he must be allergic to and advised me to stop feeding them to him. My first thought was, “Oh no, not my little guy’s favorite thing in the world.” I hoped I could find a replacement in the stores, but at the time, it was all more of the same ingredients. So, I took my concerns to google and stumbled across making treats at home.

I was surprised to learn that the task of making treats at home was doable especially with the baking skills I already had. I started off using receipts online then I got really comfortable with the “formula” and was able to create my own treat receipts. He absolutely loved them, but there was just one problem; my batches were always too large, and since there were no preservatives in the treats, they would go bad before my little guy could eat them all. After much research, the solution was found, open an online treat business and sell the treats to other dog parents who just want their dog to be as healthy as possible. As I built out this business, my ideas were endless.

I wanted the business to be the ultimate shop online for spoiling your fur baby and for spoiling yourself, so I added products that I thought would be good self care for both human and dog. Every product on my website is made by hand at home. A lot of love goes into this business and I hope this love fills homes all over the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Operating a product business has not been a smooth road. My biggest challenge is time. I spend 8 hours of my day, 5 days a week, working in Corporate American, and when that day ends, my time is redirected to my small business (week days and weekends). It took me some time to find a good routine/balance. However, even with my routine, when demand is high, I still have to make choices between business and personal in order to free up more time for increasing inventory. The sacrifice is real but total worth it in the end.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Chancey Prince?
Chancey Prince is an online store that sells products for all the dog moms, dog dads, and doggos of the world. We have dog apparel for both humans and dogs, homemade dog treats, dog inspired key chains, and dog tags with more to come as this business grows.

As I’ve mentioned, Chancey Prince was inspired by my dog Chancey, so a lot of love goes into making our products. Our treats are homemade and fresh to order and never sits on the shelf for months. There are no preservatives in our treats, and as you read our labels, you will know exactly what is in the treats you are feeding your fur baby because they are ingredients you can likely find in your pantry or refrigerator. Our apparel is designed and made in house which gives our brand a bit of uniqueness compared to other brands out there. The same can be said for our key chains and dog tags.

We are proud of the products we provide and the fact that nothing is mass produced. We hope that with every order, a piece of our love arrives with it.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along this journey is that you have to be passionate about what you do. Otherwise, what is the point of doing something if you do not really love it or if you are not truly passionate about it? Passion and love are the key drivers for being self motivated enough to give your all to something and to never give up. I want to always have the opportunity to do things that bring me happiness.
