Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Briggs.
Hi Dr. Brggs, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Dr. Yvonne Briggs, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, I am a former elementary school teacher, and currently works as an occupational therapist. I didn’t always have the title “Dr.” in front of my name and I didn’t think it could ever happen. Many people, like myself, have the potential to become successful in all areas of life. For some reason, instead of going after our dreams and reaching our highest levels of success, we allow fear, doubt, missed opportunities, and senseless negative thoughts hold us back from the blessings that God has awaiting us. The devil will fight to see us fail in life but we must not allow it. At one point in my life, the devil fought me, but I fought back, and guess what? I won! The victory was my outcome because my God is bigger and greater than any devil attempting to come after the plans God has for me. God said, No weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). To be honest; Start Now Success, LLC just fell into my lap. I had no plans on starting a business at the time because I had just graduated with a doctorate degree and released my very first book. I needed a break! After writing my book “Start Now” The Starter Guide to Becoming Successful at Anything, I received so much positive feedback and recognition for it, that I said “Why not create a business and help give people more resources to reach success?”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The most challenging barriers that I faced when I started my business was 1. What will I do now that I have this business and 2. will people support me and my business? Many people have supported me and continue to support me. This group of supporters continue to grow each day. I have been so amazed at this! However, there were people who attempted to bring me down in the beginning. I had people who chose to not participate in my visions and ideas and one person who attempted to gossip about the positive things that I was doing in my community with my Start Now Success movement. Can you believe it? When you are doing something, good there is always one person that will find something negative to say. Little did these people know it lit an even bigger fire under me and I went even harder and continue to go hard to make this business a success!! But honestly, I am not mad at them, I’m actually happy that now they can see that their negativity and nonsupport didn’t stop me and it actually made my business bloom. See, God is so amazing and knows what he is doing. The enemy will try to come and disrupt but God has a way of using other people’s evil for your good. He simply makes your enemies bow down and bless you in the end.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising that most people do not know about me is that I am Nigerian! I love everything about my culture and I naturally embrace it each and every day! I’m also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, INC. and a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, INC (NCBW).
