Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Phoenix.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Savannah, GA and grew up in a community called Coffee Bluff. As a child, my parents worked very hard and had long work hours. During that time I was in the care of my Godmother who was always surrounded by children of all ages. My Godmother owned a child care center, was a foster parent and also ran the neighborhood recreation center. She carried me with her everywhere, so being a nurturer came naturally. Whenever asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” my answer was always a teacher. As I got older, I became the family/friends babysitter and then expanded to the neighborhood.
I moved to the Lithonia/Stone Mountain area when I was in high school and my senior year I studied Early Childhood Education (ECE). As you can see my passion for teaching remained the same. I continued my education by obtaining an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and a Master’s degree in Education. During my Education journey, I worked in the ECE field, holding various positions such as Teacher, Family Services Coordinator, Assistant Director, Program Director, and Education/Disability Specialist. The knowledge I obtained from schooling and working in these different areas encouraged me to combine all of my experience and not only reach educators but also reach families and the community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been a little bumpy along the way. One challenge has been trying to maintain a full-time job with benefits while trying to get my business up and running. After successfully getting it started, the next challenge was transitioning to making my business my primary source of income. This led to the next challenge; being able to put as much time into the business and networking throughout the state.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories was taking field trips to museums, aquariums, farms, amusement parks, etc. I can remember visiting these places and not only finding it fun but also gaining knowledge of aspects of nature and history. Real-life experiences are lasting experiences.
