Hidden Gems: Meet Chantelle Martin of Mahogany Hippie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantelle Martin.

Hi Chantelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Honestly, this entrepreneurship drive and journey began for me when I was just 19 years old. I started my first 501c3 non-profit organization called TTAP, Inc. – Therapy through Art & Passions for at-risk youth to embrace the creative arts in whatever medium they chose whether it be sculpting, painting, music, theatre, culinary. Anything creative and artistic to you is accepted but whatever that is, embrace it as a therapeutic coping skill that brings you peace and joy in your everyday life. From there, I’ve went on to work in the mental health field and learned the science behind why we feel the way we feel and how we can feel better as a whole.

Today, through all my entrepreneurial ventures and push to get people to embrace therapy and therapeutic tools as a way to live your best life, I stumbled across this concept that we all now know as, Mahogany Hippie and now I’m running a very successful 100% black-woman owned business giving back to the community and improving lives daily by focusing on holistic wellness.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When people say this is a journey, they really do mean a journey. I don’t think there is such a thing as a smooth road in entrepreneurship. What it is, is a lot of lessons on how to continuously improve. The initial struggle is honestly just getting started, that’s where so many people give up before they even really give themselves a chance. It’s hard and scary pouring so much into a business from time, energy, finances, giving up a social life, struggling with the work-life balance, that’s the biggest struggle. Not knowing if it’s going to pay off in the end is sometimes too great of a fear for some to overcome but when you do, it’s worth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As a way to get people of color to embrace therapy and therapeutic tools as a way to live your best life, I stumbled across this concept that we all now know as Mahogany Hippie. I really love Mahogany Hippie because it is a culmination of years of real-world experience in the mental health field, trials and tribulations in my personal life, and research about how to manifest your best life.

The herb-infused skincare line acknowledges the fact that when you look good, you feel good, and nothing feels better than knowing you’re taking care of your body. Our skincare is all-natural and organic and slow herb-infused by me to actually heal common skin ailments by the power of nature, without added chemicals you don’t need. The scents come from all-natural essential oils that takes you to the place you need to be for your mental health whether that’s to calm, to energize, to reset, to focus, or to feel sexy and sensual, our skincare is truly, one of a kind.

Our brand aspires to promote holistic wellness, the sense of taking care of your physical and mental wellbeing so we also sell products to help manifest your best life daily and celebrate your support for our brand.

If you want to look good, feel better, and purposefully live your best life, Mahogany Hippie has what you need.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to anyone just starting out is to keep pushing. Don’t stop. Don’t give up. It sometimes takes ten years to become an “overnight sensation”. Your journey and your story help sell your brand/product to your audience so you need that journey, you need a story to tell. Take time on your journey and know that you will get to where you want to be when you’re supposed to be there. In the meantime, keep doing the work.
