Hidden Gems: Meet Dre Johnson of Intoxication Station ATL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dre Johnson.

Hi Dre, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My mobile bartending business started from my love of creating cocktails. While in college, I always created punches and jungle juices that became party favorites. The process of building the drinks was always intriguing to me. You can create so many variations with fresh fruit, juices, and a variety of alcohol. I did this for years for free, but I never cared about the money. I got enjoyment out of people loving my drinks and wanting more of them at each party. This carried over when I joined the military. I would always have other soldiers coming to my barracks room to see what I was creating for the parties on the weekend. Even today, you can find me behind the bar when I host a party at my house. I always create a drink list and pull out all the stops for my guest. On my recent birthday, my wife gifted me with money to attend Bartending School. She wanted me to perfect my skills and craft by being taught at the school. Although I had plenty of experience freelancing, I went into it with an open mind and learned a lot. Equipped with the skills I learned from school, combined with my experience, I knew I was ready to start my own business.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Everyone remembers 2020, right? Well, the pandemic happened, and I had to put many things on hold. No parties, no big events, social distancing. Most big bars were closed so for us small business mobile bars, we had nothing. I used this time to continue to work on my skills and create cocktails for my friends in mason jars. This was a way for me to get drinks to them and let them try my drinks at their homes. One thing that was not affected by the pandemic was liquors sales. They skyrocketed.

We’ve been impressed with Intoxication Station ATL, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So my business had a name as of 2016. This is when I got serious about creating my brand. This is Atlanta, we are Atlanta. The drinks we create speak to that. We specialize in creating cocktails with fresh fruit and juices. We focus on using the freshest ingredients to produce the best flavor. It also creates excellent aesthetics for the drinks. Our goal is always for the drink to taste as good as it looks. Brand-wise, I’m most proud of our resiliency and professionalism. This business is a dream come true. A passion that I’ve had for a long time. And I’ve let nothing stop me. What sets us apart from others is our customization and customer involvement. For each client, the drink menu is always tailored to the event or the person. So, we would work with you to devise your drink names. This makes for a good conversation piece. It’s just as fun for us as it is for the client.

What matters most to you?
What matters to me the most is customer satisfaction. As I stated before, I did this for free forever. Providing a product people love and continually want more is good enough for me.
