Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Simone.

Hi Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thank you for having me. I am Lauren Simone Papillion the owner of the Shop L. Simone Co. Boutique. In 2016, I graduated from Virginia State University with a BA in Communications and relocated to the DC Metro Area to start my career. I received my first job as a Marketing Assistant for a global nonprofit organization; however, on the 90th day of employment, my employer cut my position from the agency and that’s where my entrepreneurial journey began.

After losing my very first job, a new reality was created for me. I took some time to reflect and realized that I got caught up in working a job to pay bills and not listening to what God had placed on my heart. I needed to realign myself to a purpose that I was passionate about. So, in 2017, I started market research on owning an online boutique and decided to go for it! I personally took about two years to develop and nurture my brand privately. In April 2019, I finally launched L. Simone Co. Boutique with a mission to provide multifaceted fashion to women in the boardroom and beyond. My mission stems from the fast-paced lifestyle of a woman in the city. When you live and work in a fast-paced city, you always have to be ready to network and be on the scene. The best way to transition drab office attire is by having fashionable pieces that can take you from business to mogul or business to baddie. L. Simone Co. Boutique offers women with diverse professional backgrounds garments that flatter their figure and fit any occasion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Let’s be real the road to success isn’t easy nor is it forgiving. Social Media is an integral aspect for business owners to connect with their respective customers & niche audiences. Those demands are always changing and they can be cumbersome. I am a one-woman show for now. As the owner, I manage the website, create social media graphics, follow up with customer leads, manage inventory, and ship orders. So you can imagine the challenges I face daily. Overall, I can say that I truly love the hustle and bustle of my business and the one silver lining is that I am always a student with an ear to learn. I have learned the ability to give myself grace and time to experience each level of emotion within Shop L. Simone Co. Boutique.

Another lesson that I learned was to stop comparing my journey or success to others within the same field. To overcome comparison, I truly had to put my head down and operate with tunnel vision for my business. One of my BEST years within Shop L. Simone Co. was 2020! God, elevated my business despite the Pandemic. Any person looking to start a business must know that you have the ability to recreate, relaunch, and rebrand your business as many times as it takes. Don’t let comparison be the thief of your joy! Never give up! Take your business goals personally and ask God for clear direction!

In addition to Shop L. Simone Co. Boutique, I am also the owner of L. Simone Company Public Relations (LSCPR). LSCPR, is a safe space for me to serve and support people that want to start a business. I took the tools and things I learned to help others succeed.

To date, the L. Simone Company, Public Relations has successfully helped over 25 and counting businesses launch their brands.
