Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Mariscal.
Hi Marvin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
This is actually my second business. The first one was not successful at all. I was frustrated because I was not closing contracts and it had been running for almost two years. Right in the middle of COVID19 things shifted. While I was working my corporate job, we hired a company to pressure wash a few buildings. It looked fun and slightly easy as only one guy was pressure washing the buildings. When I found out how much we were paying them, I decided to do some more research on how to use chemicals and such. Within two weeks, I bought a pressure washer on Facebook marketplace. It cost me $400 to get started. I promoted pressured washing on my personal page on a Thursday and by Saturday, I had my first client. While I was pressure washing the house of my first client, a neighbor came to ask for a quote and just like that, I got my second client.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At the beginning, it was rough because I didn’t even have a truck. I would borrow my father in law’s truck or I would work out of my wife’s SUV. Also, when the business started to grow I would have to ask my manager for time off because I was still working my full-time job while running MCN Solutions. I’m sure she hated me when I had to ask for days off to take care of my business but I will forever be thankful.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At MCN Solutions, we specialize in commercial and residential pressure washing, gutter cleaning, window cleaning and we recently added interior/exterior painting. I would say that our customer service and honesty has gotten us a long way. I am proud of how much MCN Solutions has grown, specially in the Gwinnett area with under two years of launching.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Personally when looking for a mentor, I look for someone who has accomplished what I want to accomplish. Also, talking/networking with my competitors, I’ve learned more about the industry.
