Hidden Gems: Meet Morgan Fordham of Custom Pharmacy of North Augusta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Fordham.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I knew that I wanted to be a pharmacist at a very young age & to own my own pharmacy one day to follow after my dad’s footsteps. When I was 16, I began my first job as a compounding technician working for Eric Holgate at Custom Prescription Shoppe. I fell in love with compounding and knew that I wanted to focus my career in compounding pharmacy. Upon graduation, I moved to Newnan, GA and was promoted to the lead compounding pharmacist over five locations within my first year of working for The Medicine Cabinet. I moved back to Augusta in 2019 in order to chase after my dream of having my own pharmacy. Eric Holgate and I partnered up to open Custom Pharmacy of North Augusta. I am currently working on getting licensed in multiple states to further expand my ability to take care of patients in additional states other than Georgia and South Carolina by improving their quality of life. In the future, I hope to continue growing Custom Pharmacy by expanding into more locations.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not, but that it what makes is so wonderful! To get something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done & with that, comes failure. I personally will admit that I’ve had many failures along the way, but those same failures allowed me to build something in my life that could have never happened without them. If you stay in your comfort zone, that is where you will fail. Since I was 15, I’ve had many people doubting me and rooting against me due to who my family is. It is a part of life, and I wouldn’t change it. I’ve said it before, but I turn any negativity into fuel for me to keep pushing through and becoming a better version of myself on a daily basis while accepting my flaws. I had to stop comparing the beginning of my story to someone else’s middle or end. I understand that life isn’t easy and never will be, but things are more rewarding when you break a sweat to get them. I get my work ethic and drive from my dad. He has taught me many things and to never give up on something you want bad enough. My dad fought a battle for over 15 years with grace and never gave up no matter the odds. This year was the best year for my family, and my dad’s fight paid off and our family is ready to make a huge comeback. More importantly, I refuse to let other’s opinions about me change how I feel about myself & my value is not based on who comes and goes or what comes and goes, my value is in who God created me to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of Custom Pharmacy of North Augusta. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Custom Pharmacy of North Augusta, we offer more than the typical pharmacy experience. We are one of three exclusive, compounding-only pharmacy locations serving the CSRA (we are also a part of Custom Prescription Shoppe of Augusta and Custom Pharmacy of Evans). We strive to ensure that not only our patient’s compounding needs are met to the fullest extent, but more importantly to see the our patient’s health has improved overall for them, their pets and their entire family. Our business model is to bring back customer service in pharmacy that extends past our business hours. Patients can call or text after hours if they have any questions or concerns. We never want a patient to feel as if they are alone in their treatment. Furthermore, we want to support as many other local businesses and artists and provide CBD, jewelry, candles, jams/jellies in addition to other items from local businesses/artists.

What matters most to you? Why?
Professionally- Continuing to strengthen our relationships with physicians in order to improve the quality of life of our patients to the best of our ability. Our business model is based upon the patient/physician/pharmacy triad. In addition, having the best quality of nutraceuticals and ingredients to provide our patients with the best possible products.

Personally- Most importantly, my faith. I’ve allowed the hard times in my life to build my faith instead of lose it. I hope to be an inspiration to others. I want to be a reminder that you can make it through anything and to never stop fighting in order to make your dreams come true. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of others at a young age and getting the opportunity for a second chance. In addition, growing to become a better person each day. You never know how much future you have left, so it matters the most for me to spend my time now putting in the work to continue growing as a person and enhancing my knowledge and ability to provide the best care to my community. Furthermore, I want to be able to provide for my future children as much as I can. I’m so excited for the day that I have children of my own!
