Hi Thamia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I begin my journey as a Faith-Driven Entrepreneur in the height of the pandemic (2020). I made the decision to resign from my ten years career as Certified Medical Assistant and take a chance on myself. I devoted myself to growing my faith and doing business God’s way. Essentials oils became my go to when I needed more relaxation and enhancing my meditation sessions, that’s when the idea dropped in my spirit…..start making candles, Lol! I begin to research the candle industry and community and discovered there are many harsh chemicals and toxins in certain candles. I made the decision to test out soy wax and create candles that would be considered organic. I fell in love with the creativity process and decided why not share my self-care ritual with the community and make organic soy wax candles for everyone to enjoy. So, on February 5, 2021, Camia’s Scents LLC officially became a business! The best decision I have made to date.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. In the beginning I was not sure I had what it took to be an entrepreneur, a creative, or a business owner. The switch from a worker’s mentality to a “boss” put immense fear in my heart. Another struggle was creating the “close to perfect product”. Mastering a formula, figuring out where I would sell my candles, and financial restraints were some real struggles. However, having faith the size of a mustard seed has carried me this far and trust that God has equipped me to overcome any struggle.

Camia’s Scents LLC is a luxury, organic, handcrafted candle business created in mind of the conscious-living, holistic, wellness community. Our mission is to create organic, clean, eco-friendly candles for the candle lover community where they can enhance their meditation practice, self-care, and conscious living, without harmful toxins and unnatural ingredients. What our clients should know is that we advocate for doing things that bring joy, happiness, and peace into their lives. We specialize in handcrafted soy wax candles, and room & linen sprays that are safe for the client and the environment. What sets us apart is the experience we create for the client. From the time the client makes a purchase, to when they receive their beautifully packaged candles. We are most proud of what we stand for, which is a luxurious candle that is also organic. We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck anymore. I believe everything happens at an appointed time. One of our mantras are “Things happen for you, not to you”. I also believe that all the struggles, hiccups, and barriers have worked out for my benefit. I am grateful that I continue to persevere no matter what it looks like.
