Hidden Gems: Meet Victoria Lewis of Kulinary Effect

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Lewis.

Hi Victoria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a self-taught cook, private chef, food vlogger, and digital cookbook author. My upbringing was heavily influenced by food, so cooking became second nature for me.

Growing up in Birmingham, AL, we would always fry fish on Fridays and have Sunday dinners at grandma’s house! When I was a child, my granddad would buy me cookbooks to learn from and share stories of different cuisines he tried overseas. He believed in me and sparked the light in me to share my love for cooking with the world.

In my early 20s, I began cooking for friends and family and testing out recipes with them to get honest feedback. After receiving positive reviews, I realized it was time to live my dream and go for it!

In May 2018, I decided to launch my Youtube Channel entitled “Kulinary Effect” after filming and editing my first cooking tutorial. Shortly after launching, my channel grew exponentially and currently has over 18,000 subscribers and over 1.2 million views.

My positive experience with building my online platform gave me the confidence to expand my business. At first, I was only selling plates and my famous banana pudding. However, in 2019 I had the opportunity to be mentored by one of my favorite food influencers (from Birmingham, AL) who also happens to be a YouTube sensation! She gave me the opportunity to shadow her on some celebrity catering events and also taught me valuable lessons about the food entertainment industry. I was able to take those experiences into my business where I currently offer private chef and catering services for private dinners, brunch parties, holiday spreads, and non-profit events.

It’s no secret – cooking’s gotten a bad rap. But more and more people are rediscovering its joys, even in the most difficult times. I’m on a mission to change all that – with the goal of helping you find joy & confidence through cooking.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles began the moment that I decided to take action. From the beginning, I was constantly doubting myself but as I leaned on my faith, the journey became easier and easier.

Like the bible states in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Even now, I still deal with self-doubt and other insecurities from time to time but I choose to push through them because I know that God is with me every step of the way.

We’ve been impressed with Kulinary Effect, LLC., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Kulinary Effect, LLC. is your go-to brand for foodies looking for delicious recipes and cooking tips to become confident in the kitchen. I provide online tutorials across all platforms such as the cajun lump crab pasta and loaded shrimp & grits, and have amassed millions of views across Youtube, Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook. I offer cooking classes and sell digital products such as recipes and e-cookbooks.

Additionally, I offer private dining and small catering services specializing in Creole and southern cuisine. That said, I’m someone who doesn’t want to limit myself and can cook almost anything.

What sets me apart is the overall experience that I’m able to offer. From providing quality food, a unique experience tailored to each client’s personality, or my team’s exceptional customer service; We strive to overdeliver for each client to increase overall client satisfaction.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
As an entrepreneur, you know that challenges are something that you have to embrace. This is the biggest lesson I have learned along my entrepreneurial journey. As I was starting out, the quote “Learning to accept the challenges, so that I may feel the exhilaration of victory” helped me transform my life for the better.
