Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Nicole McCarty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Nicole McCarty.

Dr. McCarty, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, I’m from FL and I now live in Atlanta. I had an amazing parent and a wonderful village growing up. I knew I wanted to be in the healthcare and so that journey started on a full ride academic scholarship to Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL as a Pharmacy major. This is where I realized that what resonated with me was a more holistic health care so I changed my major and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Cardiopulmonary Science. I became a Respiratory Therapist working in critical care and specialty units for about three years. That was a cool experience. Right now, Respiratory Therapists are critical in the fight on the front lines with this pandemic. As life would have it, about three to four years into, I was in a really bad rollover car accident that caused me to stop working for a while and that’s how I ended up in the educational sector. I come from a long line of educators but I started at Osceola HS where I also served as one of the girls weightlifting and track and field coaches. I loved it.

I loved the students, the staff, my student athletes, but there was something missing. I knew I missed being in healthcare and I knew the brain or neurology system always intrigued me so I did some research and was introduced to Chiropractic while coaching there. The introduction came because I was having some issues resulting from my car accident. I went for care and after being told that I would need surgery, chiropractic cleared my painful episodes and I’ve been a believer since then. It’s funny, the way God works. I remember the doctor sit-in game down in his office and handing me a packet to his alma mater only to tell me that that’s where I’d be a year from now. I laughed because I KNEW I wasn’t moving to Georgia but you know they say, “If you really want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. A year later, I enrolled at Life University in Marietta, GA to obtain my Doctorate in Chiropractic. I ended up merging that with my love of sports and started and finished my Masters in Sport Health Science with concentrations in Biomechanics and Sport Injury Management. While finishing up my Masters, I was asked to teach upon graduating and taught Physiotherapeutic, Radiology, and Orthopedic Diagnosis to the DC and Masters students. So I was able to merge two of my great loves, education and healthcare. I balanced teaching and private practice (CrossFit niche) for a while until life happened… again and my mom was diagnosed with cancer three weeks before our wedding. I have a really amazing husband and support system so I was blessed to be her caregiver during this time of chemo and transplant.

Right before her transplant we found out we were expecting. I had a bit of challenging pregnancy but in that time, I’d been working on taking my practice virtual. After the birth of my daughter, I did just that. So, we’ve gone through some rebranding and restructuring to really hone in on my niche and develop the plan God has for me. I currently serve as an Integrative Health Doctor and Wellness Coach who specializes in helping professional women eliminate stress from their busy lifestyle, create balance and self-care, so they can embody true wellness by attaining health from the inside out using my proprietary GLOW Rx Transformation System. I’m passionate about what I do and how I’m able to help women to focus on themselves and live bountiful, full, and healthy lives by getting their health and priorities into alignment so they can experience the freedom and joy of living. So here I am, living my best life. Far from perfect but so loved, so full, and so abundant, and so grateful for what and how God has blessed me to serve others. It’s all from Him.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Ha! Smooth? Well that’s an interesting descriptive term. Lol. Smooth… not necessarily, but absolutely worth it. I had to go through a rebirth of sorts to get to THIS place where I am now. Life a lot of women, I overstayed my welcome in a relationship that just didn’t serve me well. Sometimes, love just isn’t enough. That was the case. I ended up losing myself in the midst of it and it reached a boiling point where I was forced to make a decision. I had to choose me so I ended my engagement and started over. Sometimes, two people just aren’t right for one another no matter how much they want to be. So that was a transition. We separated and moved out and I started fresh. The crazy part was that was exactly where God needed me to be in order to do the work HE needed to do in me to prepare me to serve those whom I serve now and to have the life I have now. When I’m speaking to others and sharing my experience, I always refer to this time in my life as my refining fire or pruning period. God spoke to me very clearly and I had to do the work. He showed me things about myself I needed to change, he opened my eyes so that I could see me AND go a step further and see me the way HE saw me. There were moments where I had to look in the mirror and see the good, the bad, and the indifferent.

During this period, HE also honed in on my faith, my perspective, my choices. This time was as trying as it was beautiful. It made me who I am today. He provided the blueprint for living healthy, happy, and whole. It’s taken nearly 3.5 years for that to actually come to fruition in a manner in which I am able to teach it and replicate it. It’s a way of thinking and a way of living. It encompasses the four primary pillars of health (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual) creating health from the inside out. It became the foundational principles of my new book, just released in October, G.L.O.W. Rx (Grow & Live Optimally Well): Your Practical Guide to Releasing your Inhibitions, Finding your Purpose, and Living Free, Healthy, & Whole.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MNM Integrative Wellness Solutions, LLC (DBA: The WellYOU Bar)?
MNM Integrative Wellness Solutions (AKA The WellYOU Bar) is an oasis of well being and a haven for self-care and renewal. Here, you learn to create and activate the mind body connection to nourish your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body. This connection has the ability to yield perspective shifts that relax and release stress from your surrounding environments. The focus on the four primary pillars of health produces a sound doctrine and blueprint for healthy living that includes integration from both eastern and western holistic medicine practices. Additionally, I am building my personal brand, Dr. Nicole McCarty, which allows me to serve as a resource and agent of empowerment to show other young women what is possible, to show women what life without unnecessary stress looks like and feels like. Under Dr. Nicole McCarty, I serve as an Integrative Health Doctor and Wellness Coach, an Author, a Speaker, and a Corporate Trainer & Consultant. I educate. I empower. I help to positively redesign what the lives of professional women look like when they are everything to everyone EXCEPT themselves. I am most often known for my gentle tone, direct but caring nature, and silly expression of who I am. In short, I’m a bit of a goofball. I enjoy life. I don’t allow many things to stress me. God taught me to take control of my life and I have remained in the passenger seat as the co-pilot of my life. Life is simply too short to be serious all of the time or even most of the time. Live, Laugh, Love, Let Go, Learn, Lead, and Leave a Legacy. That is a part of my purpose. THAT is LIVING and how I choose to live every day. I help professional women eliminate stress from their busy lifestyle, create balance and self-care, so they can embody true wellness by attaining health from the inside out using my proprietary GLOW Rx Transformation System.

What sets me apart from others is my ability to help guide others into shifting their mindset and digging through the layers to find the root cause of stressors and health issues and subsequently and most importantly implementing those solutions in a palatable manner. It’s about making the lifestyle change and knowing when to hold ’em, when to fold ’em, when to walk away, and when to run for your peace, your sanity, and your health. Brandwise I must say that I am most proud of my authenticity in how I show up. I am CONSISTENTLY ME. I believe that’s an amazing feature in today’s social media world because a lot of people don’t know how to embrace who they are to love that and rock that! Additionally, I am super proud of publishing my first book which also serves as a textbook for my coaching program. When I was creating my program and as I currently build my brand, I always want to make sure that I have a pulse on what people need.

As I’ve researched, the most popular issues many people have with health and stress management is that they just don’t know where to start, they need strategies, and/or they need accountability. So, I’ve structured my programs to reflect that and because health and wellness isn’t an overnight turnaround, I’ve created two programs that address my client’s needs no matter where they are in the process. *My 6-week G.L.O.W. Rx Bootcamp is one that tackles and provides custom and personal guidance and assistance for those who need to jump-start their healthcare journey and I don’t just mean physical health but instead encompassing the entire body (inside and out). It’s an intimate group with hybrid group/1:1 feel. *My WellYOU G.L.O.W Membership Community is for those individuals who need assistance along the way. They may know some things but find it challenging creating that consistency and discipline that’s needed without sacrificing the life they love. They also have questions they bring with them to the weekly call or have access to me via text. We address the entire person because we know that healed and complete people HEAL and Complete people.

Not solely focusing on fitness activity and nutrition but also the importance of sleep, stress and the role it plays on your health, and how to reconnect to yourself so that you are happy and content with who you are. *I migrate this same theme to small businesses and corporate companies as a corporate trainer for wellness and leadership in my Wellness In the Jungle (WIJ) program. This is done through personal and professional development presentations & workshops on communication, leadership, and wellness across team environments for a more cohesive and positive work culture. So whether you choose group coaching, one on one coaching, professional development workshops, speaking and mentorship, or products, my goal is for you to live free, live healthy, and live whole.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My FAITH is certainly one of the characteristics that keeps me humble and ignites my drive. This journey of entrepreneurship is NOT for the faint at heart. It has its moments of challenges, breakdowns, disappointments, and exhaustion but my faith and obedience to God’s promises and direction are the key to surviving and withstanding all of the pressure that comes. My PERSPECTIVE is another characteristic that is super important to my success. I’m very much so a free spirit. I’m optimistic and see the glass as half-full, which goes back to my faith, I believe our words have power as stated in the Bible and so I live my life in that way. I’m also what I call an “energy conservationist” because I don’t subscribe to wasting energy on things that provide no solution to a problem. I always re-direct that energy so that what I’m doing is solution based and service driven.
