Inspiring Conversations with Amber Guyton of Blessed Little Bungalow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Guyton.

Hi Amber, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in South Carolina. I attended the University of South Carolina as an Advertising major and started my career in advertising sales in print, broadcast, and digital media in Greenville, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. After earning my MBA at the University of Georgia, I spent the next few years building a career in marketing in the financial services industry in San Antonio, Texas and San Francisco, California. While in San Antonio, I started Blessed Little Bungalow, a blog about the 1948 bungalow I just purchased and fully decorated within a week. Without any formal interior design training, I wasn’t sure if this hobby turned side hustle would be successful, but my loved ones believed in me and it served as a creative outlet to write, decorate, create, and show people that they could design a home they love without breaking the bank. After five successful years building my brand and business, I relocated back to Atlanta and left my fintech company to pursue Blessed Little Bungalow as a full-time entrepreneur. I’m passionate about serving my BLB clients in Atlanta and across the country. Contrary to the design industry’s history and reputation, I firmly believe that interior design should not be a luxury reserved for the privileged few and I’m committed to democratizing the industry one home at a time.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing about this journey has been smooth, but it’s been incredibly worthwhile. I never planned on being an entrepreneur as climbing the corporate ladder and becoming some Fortune 500’s CMO was my goal since high school. It was a huge risk leaving a “secure,” cush, six-figure job with all the benefits, bells and whistles, especially in the middle of a global pandemic, but “The Great Resignation” was calling me. I was tired of splitting my time between what I was expected to do and what I WANTED to do. If others could see the gift I had, why wasn’t I honoring that and betting on myself? So in 2021, I decided to take the leap and invest all of my time in Blessed Little Bungalow. A scarcity mindset and imposter syndrome were certainly present (and still are), but choosing faith over fear has never steered me wrong. God has always provided and hasn’t failed me yet.

We’ve been impressed with Blessed Little Bungalow, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Blessed Little Bungalow is an interior design firm offering e-design and decorating services to clients in Atlanta, Georgia and across the country. We have an untraditional approach to interior design as we believe affordable and aesthetically pleasing home decor can be well within everyone’s reach. Blessed Little Bungalow prioritizes purpose, people, and peace over profit because everyone deserves to dwell in a space that relieves, excites, and inspires them at every turn. After spending years marketing to consumers about personal finance and spending their money with intention, it’s an honor for me to pour that same passion into clients as we enhance their homes and improve their lives. Blessed Little Bungalow has helped countless families transform their houses, apartments, and businesses into beautiful spaces filled with color, charm, culture and style.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success is all about freedom. Work for yourself? You own your calendar. Earn an infinite amount of money? You own your choices. All of this equates to freedom. I wish to design a life of freedom, peace, joy and ease. One that I don’t need a vacation from. One that allows me to take a break without notice. One that enables me to give to and serve others without limits. My hope is that as I enter into this next chapter, I am designing a life that is filled with these things, making God and my loved ones proud, and blessing others along the way.
