Inspiring Conversations with Ashley Witcher of The Write Legacy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Witcher.

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey to becoming a book publisher and author began as a dream at the age of 15. That’s when I discovered my love for writing and storytelling. What began as a friendly competition transformed into the multi-published author you see today. Writing for me was the vehicle that transported me to a place of healing that unlocked the voice I had long ago lost. It was a gift from God that I didn’t know I needed.
I wanted to use my gift for entertainment, but God needed it for purpose, to write healing and deliverance, to reveal His glory. My first book was published the year I turned 30 and shortly after, I began assisting others in the publishing process which resulted in the birth of my publishing company, The Write Legacy. We specialize in partnering with faith-based authors who are looking to amplify their voice in an oversaturated market, expand their reach to spread the gospel, and position themselves as thought leaders in their areas of expertise.

I have the honor of serving as a co-leader in the Atlanta area for a global women’s ministry, Wives in Waiting. We champion healthy, authentic sisterhood rooted in agape love as we guide women to build and strengthen their relationship with God. We offer ministry to the whole woman and have engagement opportunities daily through our group. And the commitment to healthy leadership and accountability is beyond compare. This ministry is life-changing!

Also, this year my journey as a writer has led me to co-found a writing ministry, The Write to Heal Ministry. It’s an incubator that creates space for the writing scribe to bring their broken pieces and submerge them in biblical healing. We offer healing ministry as well as practical writing tips, teachings, coaching, and training for aspiring and established authors as well as those that just need a safe place to grow into wholeness.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can’t say that anything has been smooth for me. Some of the struggles along the way were mostly me getting in my own way. Like many, I dealt with rejection (self-rejection and from others) and fear, but knowing that my purpose was greater than any of the obstacles I faced, I pressed on. Now having the correct verbiage, I can identify that imposter syndrome was a huge factor in many of my struggles. Not understanding your identity and not knowing your worth causes you to doubt and downplay yourself. Which makes for a harder road than necessary.

What matters most to you?
Amplifying the voice of the author so that their message can be shared is most important to me. We all have a story, gift, or talent that is intended to help someone else. I know what it’s like to be overlooked and unheard when I knew that the story I’d tell could be the key to unlocking someone else’s freedom. So, as a publisher, I put the key in the hands of each author and as a writer, I walk my readers through the door of freedom with each book I write.
