Inspiring Conversations with LaTasha Hyman of Lady T Vends

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTasha Hyman.

LaTasha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Lady T Vends during the pandemic. I was a manager at a retail store. The store was closed for several months due to Covid-19. During the time of the store closing, I also worked a part-time position at a distribution center. In early age in life, I always knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. My daily routine consists of me watching informative videos online and attending business-oriented workshops about creating passive income ideas. I talked to several business owners to gain more insight on operating a business. I took my passion and turn it into a small business. I invested long hours researching ways to get a vending machine business up and running. After I was clear that I wanted to be the owner of a vending machine business, I begin to research the community to see where there was a need. I was so determined to make this business a success. Although I heard a lot of no’s, I kept my faith and I received a phone call within a few weeks later. Lady T Vends customize its first vending machine at a hair salon. I bought my first machine from a vending machine wholesaler. The day of the launch party, we made a lot of sales and I knew then that I could make this into a new career path. So, I reached out to several schools to place traditional vending machines in their locations. I got a lot of no’s but my first Yes has been the best school location. I currently have two vending machines at this school in college park. I thank God for leading me to these locations. Following God’s directions has led me to where I am now with a successful vending machine business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I thank God for allowing Lady T Vends to have a smooth pathway. This business has truly been a blessing to me.

As you know, we’re big fans of Lady T Vends. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am the owner of Lady T Vends. My business specializes in making custom vending machines for our clients. My very first vending machine was a beauty box vending machine. It was customized for a beauty salon in Hampton, Georgia. My mission is for everyone to leave with a smile. Therefore, this custom vending machine was set up with the intent for every Diva that came into the salon to leave happy and with extra beauty essentials. The beauty box contained items such as Mink Eyelashes, Sunglasses, Headbands, Hair Bonnets, Hair Brushes, Edge Control, and Lip Stick with a LED light and mirror. Lady T Vends also specialize in custom food and beverage vending machines. We currently provide snacks and drinks vending machines for several different schools in Clayton, Fulton, and Henry County. Lady T Vends loves to see smiles on our customers’ faces. When you shop with us you leave with physical food and spiritual food. We have intentionally placed Bible Verse stickers on our snacks. I’m a true believer in seeing God in everything you do. I stand on God’s word. On my business logo, I included the scripture Matthew 4:4. But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” NKJV.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was born and raised in Covington, Georgia. I moved to College Park, Georgia when I was in the 8th grade. I attended Creekside High school. Throughout my high school years, I was a responsible, loyal, hard-working quiet young girl. I was a country girl that had to transition to the city life. Which I became versatile to my new way of living. This transition helped me to see the importance of learning ways to gain independence throughout life. Later in life, I was able to see more opportunities as I began to meet new people and explore the city. I learned very quickly the importance of making your own money. I am caring and detail-oriented. I always had a passion for helping people. I love fashion. So, I got the best of both worlds with landing a retail job. I have always had a business mindset. I went to West Georgia Technology College and received a degree in Business Administration Technology. I desire to be a business owner from a very young age. I partnered with my friend from high school and assisted her with doing pop-up shops for her hair business. A few years ago, we expanded the brand and started to include additional beauty essentials to our website. We both have an entrepreneurship mindset. While expanding, I came up with the idea of starting a vending machine business with beauty supplies for men and women.
