Today we’d like to introduce you to Somalia Brown.
Hi Somalia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey! Thank you so much for having me. I am Somalia Brown – a wife, mother, motivational speaker, author, Disruptor and all above a World ChangHer. I am also the co-founder of the Arise Nation, a sacred space for men and women to receive training and true accountability on their spiritual journey. Within Arise Nation, people are empowered to walk in their authoritative voice and as people of God, own their transformed mind.
As a Spiritual PushHer and prayer warrior, I am called to disrupt and dismantle old ways of thinking, posture, and mindset, especially when it comes to yourself and your relationship with God. As a former LSU Track & Field and Soccer athlete, I always challenge my clients and those around me to shift and become the greater version of themselves through showing what discipline and determination looks like when in pursuit of your goals.
I’ve been a disruptor all my life. My life has been marred with hard decisions that require someone who is a natural born leader to walk in. I’ve always been a leader, from playing soccer in elementary school to playing soccer in college whenever I stepped on the field. Whenever I stepped on the field, the field responded and elevated their game from young.
It was my sophomore year in Honduras, there was no sport I wanted to play. I tried my hand at basketball for a while but decided I didn’t like it. My focus and heart was soccer, it always had been, however, there was only one problem – the school didn’t have a soccer team. So, I did what any natural trailblazer would do – I created one. We were so good we made it to the Nationals and even traveled to El Salvador to play.
Coaching is innate to me. I’ve always been a natural-born leader, a quiet leader, a demonstrative leader – one that inspires through action and not instruction. That’s from my college days to track days in high school to soccer; I’ve always had influence and didn’t know it. I’ve always had influence and didn’t know it.
Coming into being a coach and thought leader, if I had to pinpoint, I could say it started more so when I was at work in 2012, and one of my coworkers said you should be a coach. I wasn’t quite sure what she meant by that. She went on to explain that she was referring to a life coach, where you help people in certain areas of their life. I sat down and spoke to couple of people and realized this is definitely something I could do. It’s innate for me to push people towards greatness. It’s innate for me to say: ‘go harder, let’s go and do hard things’ to anyone around me. So, in retrospect, it’s definitely natural progression for me to go into a role like life coaching. As a coach, that’s what you do. As a coach, I push you past your mental limits, past where you think you can’t go anymore; and I help you cross that bridge and bridge that gap. So, to be honest, there’s no specific point of where I started. It’s just who I am. In being a natural pusher, a natural person who demands success out of you as you change, I evolved into a disruptor where I disrupt everything and all things concerning you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a very interesting journey. It hasn’t been smooth, but it hasn’t been completely bumpy either – which I’m incredibly grateful for. We had just moved back to Atlanta about two years ago and my husband got offered a job to go back to Texas. It was a PHENOMENAL opportunity that he couldn’t turn down and I didn’t want him to. So we agreed that he was going to take the job and I would hold it down until he came back. This opportunity was setting our family up to catapult our lives in ways we couldn’t even imagine so when he took it, my children and I moved in with my parents for moral support. He came home once a month, and about three months in, he came home and asked if I was going to let him help me. I realised then that I was in autopilot to such a degree that I had turned into a machine. I had a well-oiled system that helped our family function and was just moving so much that I didn’t realise that I wasn’t letting him help.
So when I decided to get my certificate to be certified as a Life Coach, my husband had just taken that job, and we had a three-month-old. I was working a 9am-5pm as a sales supervisor at a luxury retail store. It was a 10-week course and I had to press.
I had a son in baseball, a daughter who was around three at the time and an infant I was breast-feeding. I had to dig deep. It was probably the hardest ten weeks of my life. I would wake up at 5am, get my two children ready for school, take them to school, come back, take a short nap with the baby, get the baby ready, get myself ready for work, got to work, and then come back home and run to baseball practice or a game to support my son, do homework with my children, get the kids ready for bed, and then study for my certification, then go to bed myself and get up to do it all over again. The beginning of the journey of that period was probably the hardest. But it showed my diligence, it proved my grit. It helped me to see that I was made for this because it could have stopped me, but it didn’t. It could have broken me, but it didn’t. It forced me to say: ‘No, this is what I want and I’m going to get it’. I dug my heels in and I got it done. I got my certificate in 11 weeks. I am incredibly excited that in the ten-week course, despite having to do all that, I only needed to push back by one week, which is an amazing feat for a mother of three under five, with a 9-5, living in her parents house because her husband received a job out of state for about a year or two.
Then after that, next on the agenda was creating my path on this new journey called life coaching and allowing my clients to find me. I did this by word of mouth, which has always been my thing. People always tell people about good things in their life. My goal is not to keep you as a client but to transform your life so your life is a testament of who I am to you, and then that will bring more people, and I’ve been working consistently as a coach ever since.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Abebi Enterprises LLC?
A branch of my organization is World ChangHers, which is a league of world-changers who are determined to go back and get those who have a seed that needs germinating. As a World Changer, I am a person who has discipline as a lifestyle. I actively change the way we view the world to be in alignment with God’s perception and requirements of us. I am willing to change my lifestyle to save another because sacrifice is second nature. With a plan to change, a mindset of abundance and inertia I always win. As you walk out of conformity and into who the world truly needs you to be, partnering with me you will manifest your authoritative voice, increase spiritual sensitivity, and assume your rightful position of power, all while elevating and pushing you to greatness in your purpose, your relationship, and gifts.
My organization helps build men and women and mobilize them into world changers globally. I have a gift to push people, pull, unlock, show them what they’re made of, shift mindsets, and show them that they do have grit. Show them that they do have resilience. Show them that they are more powerful than they really think. Ultimately, my organization helps transform people from the inside out through disrupting their current reality.
I am known for disrupting. I am a Disruptor. I disrupt people. People that encounter me can’t leave my presence and be the same as when they met me because I always challenge their thinking or approach to something. When they meet me, I shift their mindsets. I challenge what they’ve seen as their norm, and I cause them to be inspired to raise up to the higher level of themselves.
Brand wise I am extremely grateful for quite a few things, like the fact that my organization cannot be boxed into one category, that’s how much of a disruptor we are, and how excellence exudes from my enterprise on a daily basis. But most of all, I am incredibly honoured to have my organisation because of the quality of people I attract. Who you attract says a lot about who you are and the people I attract are always ready for the transformation that I’m able to help facilitate. I am honored to witness how they go out and disrupt and dismantle in the very same way that I do. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness.
Readers, I want you to know that there is a seed in you and you’re not reading this by happenstance. If your eyes came across my interview in this paper, it is because you are a world changer, and you are looking for something greater and it’s already in you. Should you join my community The Inner Courts at www.somaliabrown.
Should you be led to join The Inner Courts, you will receive a World Changer ReSet audio that is exclusively for the community, it cannot be found on my website or elsewhere, it will completely and totally flip your world upside down and unlock the pertinent parts of who you are for right now. Then everything else added to that, our six-month training will then help you physically get gritty and learn how to walk with a mindset of world changer, which will begin to unlock everything else in tandem, which is not a mindset of the rest of the world, it’s a 1% mindset.
One of the ways this mindset is developed is by listening to audios at night. By doing so you bypass your conscious mind and change the patterns of your subconscious to bring the reality you desire to the forefront. They help jumpstart reprogramming your autopilot responses to specific areas of your life. These new thoughts reconstruct stronger neuro-pathways in your brain for the change you desire.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I believe that mentors find their mentees. I am a proponent of letting your mentor spot you and see something great in you that they want to unlock and enhance. Therefore, you shouldn’t go out looking for a mentor, just be you and your mentor will find you. Usually mentors find you, and when they find you, it’s an automatic match. I would not look for a mentor. I don’t network traditionally. Networking works for me when I honor the holy moment in front of me and by that, I mean it works for me when I choose to live in the moment with those around me that could potentially collaborate or enhance my life.
I’m a disruptor in all things and I’m about to disrupt your mindset right now about how to network. When I meet someone and they pour into me, they enlighten me, or I hear something that I’ve never heard and it shifts my mind, that’s what I consider networking. Shift with me right here. If it’s someone on YouTube, I will find most of their content and binge on it. If it’s someone I meet face-to-face, I will try to get as much information from them as possible in that moment. I am not big on the mentality that: I must be around you; I must sit under you for hours or years or months because I know some people come into your life for a reason, season or lifetime. I hope you shifted with me.
Because there are some people I have found online and I love ONE thing they said, and then I binge-watch them and nothing resonates with me. So, I’ve learned that I don’t need one mentor to sit under for years on end, and I’m not knocking it, but what has worked for me is, it may just be a reason. It may be just that one post that they posted on Instagram, I will go research them and see what else they have. It does nothing. It may be someone else who comes into my life for a season, and I binge on them, they will pour into me for three months straight, and then I don’t get anything from them for six months straight.
I’ve never been one to have like a favorite basketball player or a celebrity crush; that’s just not me. Whenever someone comes into my life, I know it’s for a reason and I find that reason and then move on.
So, for me, networking has helped to understand that that person may have just dropped that nugget in Clubhouse, but it’s not meant for me to follow them, it’s not meant for me to call them. It’s just that was the nugget and I’ll research them and then move on. Some of the titles of my ReSet audios are as follows:
I am not my weight which is about building confidence about being able to separate eating habits from the decisions you make in your emotional life, while building the right mindset or perspective in dealing with the mental reasons responsible for your unhealthy diet. This audio gives you strength and control to begin to love and respect your body.
I am a money maker which influences your mind in a positive way building confidence as it drives the decisions you make about saving, spending and handling money. Relationship maker helps you to keep building confidence while changing the way you perceive your significant other in your relationship.
Self-Sabotage Yourself No More is about rebuilding your self esteem and self image, while removing self criticism, strong negative self talk, procrastination and most importantly believing something is too good to be true, so you sabotage it until you ruin it before the other person hurts you.
Out of them all, the one I recommend the most is I Am Infinite. It helps you build confidence in your superpower and anointing in God while changing the way you perceive your gifts and talents for your purpose.
