About a year ago, the idea came to me and I sat on it for a few months. I have always known that I wanted to start a business but was hesitant to step out of what I considered my comfort zone. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for lingerie, I decided to quit my job and go all in. Thus, Velvet Quarters was born. Wow, talk about brave! I’m not exactly where I want to be but I am at a place where I am confident in myself and my business. Getting to where I am today, I have had to establish a name for myself and my business which meant, going to every networking event I could possibly attend, introducing myself and handing out business cards everywhere I went! I’ve met some amazing people along the way.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Easy? Absolutely not. I underestimated the amount of work and perseverance needed to make a business thrive. There have been plenty of sleepless nights throughout this process and I’m sure there are more to come. In the beginning, I definitely struggled to find quality distributors who were willing to take a chance on me. My advice for others: Ask for help! Don’t be afraid of hearing the word “No”, keep at it, it will eventually become a yes! Lastly, BELIEVE IN YOUR BUSINESS because if you don’t, no one else will either.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Yes, my mom definitely laid the foundation for my success at an early age. Of course as a child I didn’t truly understand the value of the lessons being taught. She’s such a strong woman and I truly appreciate her for that.
