Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Strickland.
Ashley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been a self-appointed historian for my family. Constantly capturing memories of family events and everyday life. One day, my husband suggested I look into photography because “You always have that camera out”. After his nudging, I took a couple classes and signed up for a workshop by my favorite professional photographer and that was all she wrote!
I decide to get into Wedding Photography because I’ve always had a love for weddings. They are another form of self-expression and it’s so cool to see what develops from the love and commitment two people share. To tell a story through an image is a skill I’ve admired for as long as I can remember. Why not tell love stories for the rest of my life?!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My major challenge is balancing a family and my photography business. Sometimes I do it well and others I fail miserably. I’ve learned to give myself grace and that it’s OK if I can’t be a superwoman. I’ve also learned to incorporate systems and outsource certain things to be able to better balance the two.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a Wedding Photographer that specializes in imagery that is emotional, authentic and touches the classic, elegant and fun-loving couple. I take pride in the fact that I provide my Bride’s with images that literally take them back to particular moments in their Wedding and allow them to experience those emotions all over again.
I also provide my couple with lots of tools and preparation tips & tricks to help them through the Wedding Planning process. Outside of Photography, I also provide creative business owners with the resources, self-guided courses and also consulting services they need to understand how insurance protects their business & manage their risks so that they can grow profitable businesses and have peace of mind while doing it.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I was always taught the value of preserving memories. I grew up not only watching my Mother constantly taking pictures, but also printing the images and displaying them in our home. I got my love of photography from her.
