Life & Work with Daniel Thompson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Thompson.

Hi Daniel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a gift and passion for artwork. I started sketching in notebooks at a very young age. As I matured, I evolved into painting and sculpting during my middle school and high school years. Art has always been a therapeutic release and hobby for me. I enjoy the physical manifestation of my imagination. I introduced to digital art about five years ago. Acquired enough skill to be commissioned for small projects for friends and family. From their Black King Creations (BKC) blossomed. I thoroughly love what I do so much that at times it almost feels as if I’m not even working.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. I’ve had to overcome the natural obstacles of establishing a business from a hobby. I am constantly seeking new ways to reach a wider customer base and provide more exposure for my work. I continue to preserve through the logistics of running a business. Additionally, as an artist, I am constantly pushing to become more innovative and further refine my skills.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a digital artist that can provide an array of services. Currently, I specialize in the creation of customized logos for small to medium-sized companies, adult and children book illustrations. Additionally, I create commissioned artwork for customers and maintain an expanding portfolio of personal pieces. I am most known for creating a client experience with everyone I work with. I do not see each endeavor as a project but a manifestation of other visions. I take the time to truly engage with my clients to understand what they are envisioning. I personally invest myself in each project and the unique relationship I foster with each client.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has played a role in my business by producing opportunities. The lion’s share of my opportunities has been the fruits of hard work and networking. However, there have been some I’ve been blessed with through shear good luck. Happening to be at the right place at the right time.
