Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Moore.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Erica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m just a small-town girl from Hernando, Mississippi who moved to Atlanta in the early 2000s where I met the director known as Hype Williams and started to do music videos, but I never felt comfortable with being front of the camera or being labeled as a video vixen. Fast forward years later, I decided to chase my dream. I took the initiative and the opportunity and enrolled into The Art Institute of Atlanta, where I study Digital Film & Video Production with the intent of becoming a director and producer in film and television. After attending AIA (Art Institute Of Atlanta), I decided I wanted to own my own production company because I don’t want to work for someone else for the rest of my life.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth journey… in the time frame of me trying to complete my Bachelors at AIA, I lost my best friend to Ovarian Cancer my second year; I’ve lost my social life, and I missed a lot of time with my family. And to top it off, I had a car accident, which led to three fractured bones in my right foot, which causes me not to graduate on time.
The advice that I would want to give to young women starting their journey in film, “Never give up on something you are passionate about”. Last but not least, as I say in my company mission statement: MAKE THEM REMEMBER YOUR NAME.
Please tell us about e-MOOREPRODUCTIONS LLC.
I am a producer in film & live broadcasting and I’m known for producing. What I am most proud of is having the opportunity to be the lead producer for The Art Institute of Atlanta 2019 Graduation Ceremony at the Cobb Energy Center.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
What I really want them to know is that women in film are sometimes not equally respected and our creativity is overlooked at times… but never mind that. Make them hear, understand, and respect your vision.
