Today we’d like to introduce you to Harmony Lanz.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Harmony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Thanks for your interest in my story! I began studying Reiki in 2010 when I needed healing to come into my life again. I’ve been involved in the pursuit of healing and healing arts for just over 20 years. When I was in my twenties, I was diagnosed with a chronic, potentially terminal, illness and was able to use my understanding of energy healing to recover completely. So, I knew of Reiki but was not yet a practitioner myself.
Over the years, for many reasons, I’d lost focus a bit. The material world had become the priority and to that extent, a LOT exhausting. I met my Reiki teacher and began seeing him regularly for Reiki sessions. He held exchanges and classes out of his house at the time and had agreed to teach me. As I began to learn and use Reiki, my life started to change, gradually, for the better.
By 2012, I was a Usui Reiki Master and teacher. Keeping it close for some time, I would only practice on myself, my family, and a few friends. As time went on, I opened up and now practice and teach professionally. Reiki healing is the focus of my practice but I use many tools during a session and some have broken out into their own sessions. Tarot, crystals, runes, intuitive guidance, etc. are all in my wheelhouse.
I use Reiki in all ways and I’m always learning. I’m studying Karuna Reiki now and will Master/Teach that as well. The possibilities for the healing energy of Reiki to work in our lives is endless and I LOVE that! I’m available to them all and find the most joy in passing on what I’ve learned. I’ve come to rely on Reiki and it’s components as very practical and compassionate tools that sustain me on the path of personal responsibility and self-love. The simple truth is that when I receive, study, teach and give Reiki – I feel good. I feel aligned. Alignment is my focus. That’s inner peace, and so, necessary for optimal healing.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting to do this professionally was definitely a long, rocky road. If I could go back and tell myself anything, I’d say: TRUST YOURSELF. I spent so much time feeling shy or insecure about my abilities and my interests. I was too worried about whether or not I was ‘right’ in my intuitions or ‘safe’ in my endeavors. I also spent too much time on how those close to me would perceive my healing practice. I struggled to try to fit myself into what paths others had laid out for me instead of forging my own path. However, it took what it took to get me here and I honor that. Still, would definitely whisper in my 20-year-old ear to just trust myself. For women starting out now, I’d say the same thing.
A few other things on that list:
1) Trust yourself (in case you didn’t hear it the first few times lol).
2) Find what you love and JUST DO THAT.
3) Stay focused on THAT THING YOU LOVE and pursue it like the rest of your life depends on it… because it does.
4) If you don’t know your natural gifts and talents, start with the things people criticize you for the most. Mine was ‘You’re too sensitive. You’re all emotions. You think too much. You’re too artsy.’ Low and behold THOSE things are GIFTS that now people pay me for and want to learn more about.
5) If you don’t know what you love, think back to what you enjoyed most as a kid. It’s probably there somewhere, just waiting to be found.
6) Finally, every time you start to worry or doubt, just remember: Miracles are normal and expect them. Things really do fall out of the sky when you need them to. Stay aligned with who you really are.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Reiki Love & Harmony – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a Reiki Master & Teacher of Usui Reiki. I also read Tarot and provide intuitive guidance for my clients. I’m proud of the work I’ve done to open up and accept that experience. I am most proud of the sense of peace and personal power my clients allow and embrace in themselves during our sessions. It’s really rewarding to aide in people’s ability to heal themselves; mentally, physically and spiritually. I think we all come to our teachers and choose our paths for unique reasons. I’m grateful to have had so many extraordinary teachers along the way and to have been able to help others with what I’ve learned. My grandmother used to say that ‘one day you just turn the right corner and meet the right man’. I think life is very much like that and I have always experienced that when the student is ready, the teacher appears (and it’s always the ‘right’ one).
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I could write a whole book about this but in short, YES. I feel that the feminine has been extremely undervalued in nearly every material arena. I know that the realm of masculine is physical and inherently relevant. I honor that entirely. But, I do definitely look forward to seeing a true feminine power in equal partnership with existing masculine structures. Our world needs healing and real compassion. I know a large part of our suffering is a result of the imbalance. I feel the more women wake up to themselves, outside of patriarchal teachings on what it means to be a woman, we will see more women entrepreneurs, creating new roles and functions that benefit our world and highlight healing. I hope to see more room for women to be women in any role and on any path they choose.
