Life & Work with Jashaun Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jashaun Carter.

Hi Jashaun, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Jashaun Carter, 24 years old, from Savannah, GA. My road to becoming a personal trainer. C.R.U.S.H. Fitness is a brand that I came up within 2017 during my last season of Track and Field at Clayton State University. I kept getting injuries and didn’t understand why so I started to research and focus a lot on my health and fitness. I then started to display my training at my school’s gym, which attracted a lot of people and one of my favorite things in the world to do is help others. I started to assist others while working on my goals and I fell in love with health and fitness, it felt so natural. I released a video showing some of my work and telling my story to give people insight on my “why’s” for loving health and fitness.

In 2018 I was hospitalized for 17 days for a pneumothorax which set me back a lot. I did my own therapy and recovered faster than the average person who goes through this, according to the doctors. I actually took the time out to study the body and started to focus on the importance of eating right and rest. My recovery process really inspired a lot of people on my social media platforms and that was the biggest motivation I ever had to go hard and help people reach their goals. I released a social media hashtag called “Check IN” as an accountability thing where you tag friends to make sure they are focused on their health and fitness. Fast forward two years later in 2019, I started to host workout events at my school, which upped my game because I had to really focus on helping these people reach their goals and being able to answer their health and fitness questions. My brother Omari Hughes, Owner of Multi Fitness, really guided me a lot through this whole process and I thank him for that.

Months later into 2020, the pandemic hit and everything was absolutely closed. The workout platform we had was a football field. My big brother TJ Williams, owner of Gold Rank Athletics, called me up and said, “I got the weights. Meet me at the field let’s work.” I called up my crew and for two months straight, we went hard in the son no matter the circumstances while practicing social distancing. Things were getting serious because I was getting inquiries about personal training so I then I begin to take clients and dropped my logo. My first client, Caleb Shell, really took me to another level when I broadcasted his process from start to finish on Instagram and everyone loved it! This process has been amazing and inspirational to myself and others and I will be a NASM Master Trainer by the end of this year to maximize my capabilities. I am currently gaining more certifications and you can catch me training in a local gym very soon!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Torn hamstring in 2017 Hospitalization for pneumothorax for 17 days in 2018, had to resign from Clayton State’s Track and Field team. Pandemic for COVID-19 hit in 2020, which slowed my mission down because I have minimum resources and the world was shut down.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Personal Trainer, I specialize in weight loss, strength and performance, nutrition, and body sculpting. I am known for motivation and inspiration to others in the gym to help others reach their goals. Always the hardest worker in the gym. My trait that I made up and have tattooed on me, “Humble Beast,” is what sets me apart from others. I am one of the humblest people when it comes to knowledge and teaching but when it times to work, I turn into a beast.
