Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Sloane.
Jillian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My life is truly a redemption story of how God qualified the unqualified. I didn’t grow up in the church at all. I knew of God, but I didn’t know Him for myself. Therefore, I was pursuing everything else but Him. I was an ATL socialite and track-star always chasing the next move. The problem with that is you begin to pursue things to fill voids on the inside of you that can only be filled by God. So, my life was consumed with sex, drugs, drinking, partying, and the list goes on. But those things are only temporary fulfillment, so you have to keep going back for more. I kept looking to the world for some type of relief but all I found is myself being maxed out on alcohol, weed, and ungodly relationships. This led me into a deep depression. Lacking purpose and strength, I became suicidal and was ready to take my life. Out of desperation, I called on the name of Jesus Christ. He heard my cry, and I had a radical encounter with Him. From that point on, I began to pray, worship, and read my Bible every single day, and I came into a relationship with God. This started months of healing, wholeness, and understanding. He spoke to my brokenness and patched up the pieces. And I didn’t know He would later use all of that to prepare me to one day preach the Gospel near and far. Now, I am not only a testimony of God’s goodness but I am a vessel He uses to bring people to Christ. These last couple of years have been an incredible journey, but literally, God wrote every word of my story.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any new journey will not be easy, especially a spiritual one. You have to abandon all of the dysfunction you once had and the deception and lies told to you by the enemy. You have to let go of your life to take on the life that God has called you to live. Just because we are humans, that process will be difficult. But the great thing is that God doesn’t want you to do it within your own strength. He wants to walk with you through the process as you depend on His grace to carry you from one place to another. Many of us get ready to give up once the journey gets hard, but that’s the point… the journey is hard to show you that you need Jesus, and it’s time to surrender. It also shows you that you need a community of believers to walk with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. We can’t walk this walk with Christ alone, and that’s one of the greatest lessons that I have learned. I need to depend on His grace and other like-minded believers who are actively pursuing Him. It makes all the difference. But the simplest advice I could give is JUST START. Just start seeking Him, stay the course, and God will do the rest.
Please tell us about your work.
I am a preacher, influencer, and lifestylist to the millennials. My assignment is to show people how to turn pain into purpose. I do this in two ways: practically and spiritually. Practically, I help entrepreneurs develop a strategy for their brand by articulating their unique message, so they can generate influence and monetization from their story. Spiritually, I teach believers how to break free from their past, so they can grow in God and walk in their truth. I help people find their purpose spiritually and then reap a harvest in the natural.
What sets me apart is my authenticity. People will always connect with your transparency, vulnerability, and authenticity. I want to influence people through the way I live my life. I don’t want to just talk about it because we lose trust with people when we speak about a life that we don’t actually live. I want to showcase Christ in everything that I do. And also, look fabulous while doing it, that’s why I am a lifestylist. I love letting God minister to people through my fashion and lifestyle.
I am still in the building stages of my brand. I am working on events, books, podcasts, and so much more that the Lord is pushing me to do. And it’s just amazing to see God begin to birth all of these new things out of me.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Absolutely! My pastor and spiritual father, Apostle Bryan Meadows has his own app that serves as a well of information and revelation. If you search the Bryan Meadows app in any App Store, you can download it. It has so many podcasts, mentorship modules, and sermons that helped me birth out my purpose. He has truly changed the trajectory of my life.
