Life and Work with Supriya Prasad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Supriya Prasad.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Supriya. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my digital marketing agency (specializing in social media), SPB Productions, after quitting a very stressful corporate gig when I was living in the Chicagoland area. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made since I’ve learned way more by starting my own business than learning in any sort of job situation. Ironically, I eventually found another job out in the Atlanta area that I couldn’t turn down so I took it while working on my business at the same time. Like any business, I am always testing and investing in things to make life easier. I am still pretty new to the entrepreneurship game, however, I can confidently say that the things I’ve discovered about myself made me not only a better marketer but a more confident woman!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely has not been an easy road! I am still pretty new to this game and I face struggles every single day as a minority woman-owned business, who is also very much into witchy/woo/spiritual stuff. The advice I would give to any young woman starting their entrepreneurship journey is to be confident in your skills, talents, and prices. Knowing how to price your services is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a social media marketer. The gender wage gap is a huge issue, especially when it comes to women of color, and I really hate seeing other women price their amazing services so low. You are worth way more!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with SPB Productions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
SPB Productions is a woo/new age-based digital marketing agency that specializes in social media marketing. I mostly work with strong, powerful soulful women on their social media marketing strategy and for 2020, I am introducing intuitive strategy coaching as part of my line of services.

I have a 1:1 coaching client that I am working with right now who is such a badass. She is a veteran with MS and is telling her story on her Christian based blog (thehopalonghomestead.com) and will be releasing a book soon.

I really love teaching others, and I am planning on releasing some courses in 2020 soon!

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
The advice I would give is to really get on LinkedIn and hit the pavement with networking events. Shake as many hands as possible and send as many emails as possible. LinkedIn worked wonders for me as far as networking goes. I was also able to find so many amazing people in networking groups such as TiE Atlanta, and Women’s Only Experience by Stefanie Diaz (she’s so awesome!).

Pricing:

  • Social Media Management starts at $500 per social media platform
  • Paid social media ads starts at $1,000
  • Strategy sessions – $200/hr
