Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Irene.
Tiffany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
iSpeakPR began over a pizza and a bottle of wine between two strangers that became lifetime friends after a bad business deal! Sounds interesting right, but so true. We can go into more detail about that another time. 😉
That was the year of 2010. Fast forwarding, my former partner, still bestie, transitioned into another field around 2013 and that is when iSpeakPR became iSpeakPR by Tiffany Irene, LLC. What is iSpeakPR? A proud WOMAN OWNED public relations group of influential individuals that united together to brand, raise awareness and advocate on behalf of the innovators of the world! From reputation management, media relations, social media, partnership development, content curation, graphics and sponsorship retainment, all things public relations is us! iSpeakPR, it’s our language and we’re fluent in it!
Since it’s rebirth, we’ve been on a move; awards, public recognition, have worked on projects both domestically and internationally and this baby is still growing!!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road to your dreams is filled with throned roses! There is no easy way to get to where you want to be. Whether it is to become the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, world’s best mom, or a famous artist, there is no avoiding putting in the work, there is no avoiding obstacles and there is definitely no avoiding BULLSHIT!!! (oops, can I say that?!) The hardest part is dealing with PEOPLE! Believe it or not, but the hardest part is one, finding people to believe in your dream as much as you do to help you achieve it. I say to counter that always think WIN-WIN, how can what your doing/wanting from other people; how does it benefit them. Always create incentives for people to make them want to join you. Ask them what do they want out of life. Ask if they have any goals. Ask them why they are there with you and most importantly, take what they say seriously, so they can take you seriously. From there you can then figure out how you can incorporate their wants into what you need. That’s how you create loyal teammates when you don’t have a huge salary to give someone. ALWAYS, ALWAYS go into every job, internship, volunteer opportunity, etc. thinking HOW CAN I BENEFIT HERE? If you can’t see a benefit you’re wasting your time. Next, being a woman and a minority, society will try to downplay your strength, even some women will do other women that way unintentionally and that’s ok but always be sure to be the educator. When you face issues of discrimination again always be sure to be the educator, seriously. I say that twice because there’s a lot of people stuck in the 1900s and don’t realize it, but it’s 2019 and it’s my job to ensure the world knows that I am woman hear me roar! I can do anything I want, period. I can negotiate deals! I can tell you NO! I can work long hours while taking care of my children! And for those who are aware of their discriminatory behaviors in business, the ones who taunt or annoy you, even still, always be the educator, make sure you know who they are and simply call a spade a spade and move on. There’s a lot of opportunity in this world NEVER limit yourself. If one person says no, trust me, someone will say yes. There’s room for everyone at the table and if there is not enough chairs and you can’t find one, sit on the table! Rules are made to be followed and created! Be the creator!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with iSpeakPR – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
iSpeakPR is a unique public relations group as it focuses on a diverse list of clientele. Most small PR businesses or independent PR people focus on one arena, like for example an entertainment PR rep. At iSpeakPR, we focus on the passionately focused creators, because that’s who we are, no matter what the lane is; music, politics, non-profits, corporations, government, entrepreneurs, public figures, etc. We focus on true potential and use Stephen Covey’s 7 Habitats of Highly Effective People, Win=Win approach, when choosing who to work with. How is this next project beneficial to the client and most importantly how is it beneficial to the iSpeakPR team. We are selective. Quality over quantity here. The client has to fit our image and we hope for the client it is vice versa. We are never desperate for clients. All money is not good money. iSpeakPR is known for its work ethic not a roster of just because.
There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that a lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Mentors? Well, if you’re serious about your future and impacting the world in some way and you’re in need of a mentor I’m here for you irene@iSpeakPR.com, seriously. I have a few mentors that have saved my life throughout the years. It’s definitely a MUST HAVE business accessory. There are also organizations such as SCORE that offer free mentoring for business and aspiring business people. NOTE: when it comes to mentors and networking, get into your field (choose what you want to become, your direction, sooner than later), I say that because we all can do everything, this is the age of information. I can teach myself to become a makeup artist through YouTube with enough practice, but am I a make-up artist, NO. Everyone wants to do it all. Please people, STOP TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING OR BE YOUR ENTIRE TEAM! You will NOT make it. We were made to work together. People specialize in things for a reason. Multi-tasking is a SIN! I tell people to focus on ONE thing, become known for that, and then once you make it in that space successfully, then ease in one other thing you’re good at or want to add to your business or career path. Just choose something that makes you feel good. BE DECISIVE. Now, with my disclaimer out the way, once you’ve picked your field, research events in your area around your field and GO TO THEM. Just that simple. Make it your business to collect at least five new contacts before you leave. Going back to mentors, outside of SCORE, look at people you want to be like, that you know. Whether it is a professor, community leader, etc and simple get the balls to say to them, HEY I ADMIRE YOU, CAN YOU BE MY MENTOR! Don’t be a stalker, but simply show them you admire them and wish to learn how they do what they do so well, it works.
